Brett Favre: A Career in Video Games

I did a feature on Brett Favre's career through many a video game a la the Michael Strahan piece from Super Bowl week. The information is anything new to our readers, but for those of you who played SEGA football games back in the day, you'll enjoy many a picture of Favre rolling out.

So how long until he's on the cover of All-Pro?

This is my new favorite series.

The real question is, is Favre even a gold pick in all-pro?

And what would his abilities be.

1. Rocket Arm -- QB has top-flight arm strength with QB charge.

2. Play Fake -- QB's play action fake is great at fooling defenders.

3. Scrambler -- QB is talented at throwing the ball out of the pocket.

4. Leadership Bonus -- Player makes his teammates better.

5. Durability Bonus -- Player is resilient to injuries and very dependable.

Well, that was easier than expected.

Ahem, thats "laser rocket arm" not a mere "rocket arm", kyle boller has one of those... show the proper respect.

this is fantastic.
I'm guessing, though, that it is another heartbreak for Packers fans. Not only do some of the screen shots show Favre's 30-something TD passes and few interceptions, it also has the 90-something rankings of Freeman and Butler, with Reggie White mixed in there.
Actually, the more I think about it, it may be a more frightening flashback for me than a sad flashback for the Cheeseheads.

re #4: It's the term in All Pro! Further, If Kyle Boller made it to All-Pro he'd be a bronze pick with no attributes.

All Pro distinguishes between laser arm (accuracy) and rocket arm (distance).

3: You missed his main special ability. The Dying Quail- Did he really just throw that? Seriously?

If they include him in APF2K9, I'm sure they'll add a "Havin' Fun out There" ability for him alone.

Undoubtedly the underhand toss five yards past the line of scrimmage will be incorporated.

I remember in college we had this tourney where each person would take a team and play a season and then we'd likely meet each other in the playoffs. We wound up having about 10 players in one season and things were pretty competitive. I took the Cardinals and made a trade to get Favre (you were allowed 3 trades) and boy howdy did he suck. I then wound up trading for Jim Everett who wound up being slightly better and got me to the Super Bowl where he somehow threw for over 400 yards.

It took awhile for me to change my opinion on Everett and Favre as players in real life.

That happens to me. My opinions of players are often much more related to how they play for me in video games than their real life counter parts.
