A couple of unrelated items from Russell's in-box make it into this week's edition of Confessions of a Football Junkie. Also, is USC better off for having sleepwalked through the first half against Oregon? And did you notice the new little wrinkle Bill Belichick came up with in the final seconds against Pittsburgh? Plus, the latest BlogPoll ballot.

We are proud to announce that we have signed a contract with FOX to provide Football Outsiders content for the NFL page at FOXSports.com. Aaron details this big move for our website, and explains why it had to wait until the third week of the season.

I was dreaming when I wrote this, so sue me if it goes astray. But when I woke up this morning, I realized this piece was really late. The sky was full of footballs, Marshall Faulk was running everywhere. Since the Titans play the Rams this week, I know you might really care. Two thousand-zero-zero? Party's over, now it's 2005. But tonight we've got DVOA from 1999. (cue guitar solo)

Chris Carr, Jordan Carstens, and Mike Labinjo aren't household names, but they've become part of the story of the 2005 season. Mike Tanier tells how a bunch of undrafted rookies and practice squad fillers earned a sliver of the NFL limelight.

Everything is right with the world -- Vinny and Russell are both comfortably back under .500 for the season. This week they take their discerning football acumen and ascerbic wit to the biggest conference games of the weekend, mostly in the 10's, both Big and PAC. Plus they look at the Conference USA barnburner between Tulsa and Memphis, and perform some sophisticated sideline accoutrement analysis.

Oh, no. Al Bogdan believes in the Giants again. Vivek, well, not so much. Plus, frustration with Jamal Lewis, Best Bets, and the latest Jason Beattie cartoon. As always, this is the thread for all your fantasy football discussion.

Is an injured Byron Leftwich better than a healthy David Garrard? How on earth can a player take the field a week after thumb surgery? And wait ... Is that Matt Schaub's music? Will Carroll tackles those questions and more in the latest Black and Blue Report.

In what has to have been the most painful thing he has ever written, Michael David Smith defends Brian Urlacher against the charge of "overrated," based on his performance against Mike's beloved Lions.

One week after falling at home to the Saints, the Panthers win in a sloppy game over the Patriots. One loss should be no big deal, but what is wrong with Corey Dillon and how much can his struggles affect Tom Brady? The Panthers defense is improved by the law of averages, and they win the game thanks to their ability to score touchdowns instead of field goals.

Wasn't it just a week ago that Russell was promising not to get too wrapped up in the season of his favorite NFL team, the Buccaneers? Well that's all out the window after a second straight impressive win. Plus, some griping about NFL announcers, an important development in the Levine household, and the updated BlogPoll ballot.
