Brunell Replaces Ramsey as Redskins' Starting QB

Hope you didn't pick Patrick Ramsey as your quarterback in the Loser League contest. Instead of waiting to see if Ramsey will be able to play Sunday after suffering a sprained neck, Joe Gibbs decided to name Mark Brunell the starter right away. I'm guessing the Redskins are on their third starting QB by Week 5.

Four Downs: NFC East

The Eagles have more cap space than they know what to do with (literally), the Cowboys have a lot of receivers who may or may not be any good, the Giants have a backup quarterback doing his best Brett Favre imitation, and the Redskins have a Napoleon complex. It's business as usual in the NFC East, as Al writes in his last edition of Four Downs.

Rattay Picked as 49ers' Starter Over Top Pick Smith

Mike Tanier talks, people listen. Tim Rattay is the starting QB in San Francisco, beating out #1 pick Alex Smith for the honor of being a first round Loser League selection. Adjust your cheat sheets accordingly if you're in a fantasy league deep enough where the 49er starting quarterback is on your cheat sheet.

Coughlin "Very Concerned" About Manning's Elbow

Eli Manning injured his elbow on Saturday night during a pre-season game and the Giants are "very concerned." Manning underwent an MRI, but the full results won't be available until Monday. If Eli's elbow injury is serious, it will be another long season in the Meadowlands for the Giants.

NFL Officials Visit to Discuss Rule Changes

NFL officials are making the rounds at training camp explaining rule changes for the 2005 season to players and coaches. Some highlights of the new rules include a penalty for a team whose coach throws the replay flag on the field after the team has run out of challenges, 15 yards for "icing the kicker" with an excess penalty before a field goal, and more protection for kickers from unnecessary roughness.

Patriots Agree to New Deal for Holdout DL Seymour

Sorry holdout fans, Richard Seymour will be reporting to Patriot camp on Wednesday. At least you still have Brian Westbrook and Hines Ward staying away from camp looking for new deals.
