MMQB: Panthers Do Homework on Newton

Filing from Augusta this week (unaffected as he was by the Masters' "No Female Reporters" policy that isn't really a policy, and we're sorry the lady couldn't get in, but we're really not sorry, but blah blah blah...), PK updates us on the Panthers' possible draft plans, handicaps other possibilities in the top 15, writes that when it comes to labor, it's 1993 all over again, and explains why you should be following Greg Cosell on Twitter if you aren't doing so already.

Who Said It: Bennett or Sheen?

Kudos to NFL.com's Adam Rank for coming up with this idea. He has 12 quotes; six each from recently off-the-deep-end actor Charlie Sheen, and six from quote-worthy Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett. Bennett's quotes don't even include his recent assertion that the Cowboys should have an open quarterback competition between Jon Kitna and Tony Romo, but he's got a few doozies in there.

MMQB: A Crazy Year For Quarterbacks

This week, PK talks about the fact that there's no clear-cut frontrunner in the draft-eligible quarterback battle, handicaps what might happen in the court of Susan Nelson, reveals that Vince Lonbardi once "scouted" Hank Aaron, and explains why the offseason has been a nightmare for Matt Light.

MMQB: Gabbert, Newton Both Top-5 Picks

This week, PK says that the mysterious creature known as "CamBlaine" is the only sure thing at the quarterback position in this draft, updates us on a possible players' event on draft weekend, reveals the one thing the owners really want in a new CBA, and believes that the UFL commissioner has oversimplified the NFL process

Cover-2: The Outcasts

As fast as they were at the scouting combine, UNC linemen Robert Quinn and Marvin Austin couldn't outrun the NCAA. How did their lost years affect their games, and what did the 2009 tape show?

MMQB: Vick Returns to Prison

This week, PK details Michael Vick's prison experience -- now and then. He also tries to bring some common sense to the PR battle between owners and players, updates a possible QB-O-Rama, asks everyone to send best wishes to Steve Sabol (a sentiment we endorse, of course; you can send your thoughts to Mr. Sabol at Sabol.NFLFilms@NFL.com ), and explains why the draft may have a very different look this year.

MMQB: Resolution Closer Than It Appears

Uh, Happy Lockout MMQB? In this missive, PK gets "Harvardian" with his ideas about what will be added and dropped from a new CBA (or a new court-enforced NFL), says that the players need to bend on the idea of financial transparency, gives us a positive update on Steve Sabol's condition, and admits his addiction to Thin Mints.

Cover-2: DTs of the 2011 Draft, Part 2

They're the headliners of the best defensive line draft class we've ever seen. But can Nick Fairley and Marcell Dareus match the efforts of previous NFL greats?

In this week's installment ... PK asks SI colleague Jim Trotter to tell us just how close the players were to de-certifying the union last week, says that the owners may finally have to open the books, previews the Super Bowl XLV DVD, and gives an update on Dr. Z.

Four Downs: AFC West

How will Denver's quarterback situation shake out? Is it time for Jamaal Charles to shoot for the stars? Did Oakland fire the wrong guy (again)? And when will A.J. Smith stop playing his game of San Diego Chicken?
