How did Matt Waldman grade Alshon Jeffery pre-draft? A potential stylistic cross between Michael Irvin and Cris Carter if Jeffery demonstrates he wants to work like a pro.

Ohio State's cornerback Bradley Roby wasn't rusty when he lost a match-up with Wisconsin's Jared Abbrederis, the receiver is better than you think. The reason is fluid technique trumping the stopwatch.

Can Landry cross the gap between the mundane and the extraordinary? It's a question most players have to ask at every level of football.

If Tryann Mathieu’s play officially announces the arrival of a new breed of safety, Lamarcus Joyner’s use in the NFL may become the next step in the evolution of the position.

I’d like to believe that last weekend will be the beginning of a long and fruitful career as an NFL starter for Bobby Rainey, but I’m not naive. The one position in the NFL where there is no shortage of talent is running back. There may be teams that lack a good eye for matching running back talent with its roster, but there are backs training at home with the ability to produce as an NFL starter if called upon.
While he has the NFL’s attention, the RSP blog examines what Rainey has done thus far that is consistent with his performance as a college prospect.

The rookie running back isn't having a successful year in Pittsburgh, but he's much closer to future success than some may realize. What Bell has to learn is that while he has some super traits, he has to avoid the temptation to be a hero on every play. Matt Waldman explains in his analysis at the Rookie Scouting Portfolio blog.

Gilbert has first-day athleticism and versatility, but junior year lapses with technique and judgment made him the type of player who elicited a wide range of draft day possibilities before his senior year.

Case Keenum is the most surprising bench player in the NFL this year. I’ve studied his three starts and I believe the Cardinals defense provided the best evidence that the Texans’ new starter has the potential to succeed long-term. Read the rest at the RSP blog.
