A few weeks ago the Steelers' defense looked good enough to make Pittsburgh a legitimate threat to Indianapolis and New England in the AFC. Now, not so much. What has changed? We examine the Steelers' subpar performance against the Rams in an early holiday-week installment of Every Play Counts.

I drove up to the Metrodome this week to take in the Vikings-Bears game, and I came away impressed with the Vikings ... with one notable exception.

All of a sudden, the Houston Texans aren't looking stupid for picking Mario Williams first overall. What kind of player is he becoming? And why would he be even better without Bill Carollo involved? Find out in this week's Every Play Counts.

Sure, the Patriots are undefeated, the Colts are the defending champs, and the Steelers have a huge national fanbase. But how about some love for the Jacksonville Jaguars?

Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens entered Sunday's game against the Lions leading the league in DPAR and second in the league in DVOA. But he walked off the field having caught just three passes for 27 yards. What gives? Find out in this week's Every Play Counts.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with pornography, but that word is guaranteed to get some page views. I can't really define "parity" or "mediocrity," but I know them when I see them. And I think the AFC wild card race shows parity while the NFC wild card race shows mediocrity.

Just wanted to let folks know that I'm now running CollegeFootballTalk.com, where we'll be discussing all the news of the college football world, with a heavy emphasis, especially for the next few weeks, on coaching changes. I've turned comments off because I don't want this thread to compete with the Seventh Day Adventure thread today, but if you have comments about the site, feel free to drop me a line at mike-at-footballoutsiders-dot-com.

I think everyone basically agrees on who are the top skill position players this year -- Brady and Manning and Romo and Favre and Owens and Moss and so on. But what about the other positions? If you're filling out a Pro Bowl ballot, I have some suggestions.

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to do the unthinkable Sunday night and actually play four competitive quarters against the New England Patriots. Does that mean the Eagles have unveiled a blueprint that other teams can follow to beat the Patriots? We explore that question in this week's installment of Every Play Counts.
