Any Given Sunday: Bengals over Steelers

The Bengals are better than the Steelers. DVOA has known that for weeks. Even so, they lost to the Steelers in Week 7, so they were the underdogs until they proved otherwise. Ned Macey looks at how Cincinnati has improved in the last six weeks and how Pittsburgh is, well, still Pittsburgh.

Any Given Sunday: Dolphins over Raiders

Remember when the addition of Randy Moss was going to make the Raiders one of the most feared offenses in football? Remember when somebody thought it was a good idea to sign Gus Frerotte to be their starting quarterback? Ned Macey finds an Oakland offense playing below expectations and a Miami team that may be one player away from being competitive.

Any Given Sunday: Bears over Panthers

Call this one a pundit upset. FO regulars have been quicker to catch on to the Bears as a pretty good team and the Panthers as a pretty mediocre one. But it gives Ned Macey the opportunity to break down the stellar Chicago defense and the struggling Carolina offense. And call him crazy, but he doesn't care for Kyle Orton.

Any Given Sunday: Colts over Patriots

How do you write an article about a big upset on a weekend when there were no upsets? Ned Macey writes about the Colts' upsetting the balance of power in the AFC, where the Pats have long been better. Any Given Sunday looks at how Monday's game proved that's no longer true.

Any Given Sunday: Rams over Jaguars

Jacksonville likes close games, but when you always play close games, you can lose. Clutch performance is a cruel mistress. After Sunday's game, the Jaguars have a decision to make about who to play at receiver. The Rams have a bye to get healthy, and is it possible that they just won a game because of a special teams play?

Any Given Sunday: Raiders over Bills

LaMont Jordan dominated the Bills' run defense, but this may say more about the Bills than Jordan. Ned Macey investigates how a supposed premier defense has completely deteriorated against the run, finds a strength in the Raiders' defense, and appreciates the early-season success of Doug Gabriel.

Any Given Sunday: Falcons Survive Saints

Favorites won every game but the one in Pittsburgh this weekend, and since Tommy Maddox does not a satisfactory NFL quarterback make, Ned Macey takes a close look at the almost upset in San Antonio. Mike Vick was up to his 2004 ways, spraying passes and getting bailed out by his teammates. The Saints managed to keep the game close thanks to a running game that somehow survived the loss of Deuce McAllister.

Any Given Sunday: Cowboys over Eagles

Everybody expected Philadelphia to be laughably better than the rest of the NFC East. Guess who's laughing now? (Hint: They wear stars on their helmets.) Ned Macey finds out what the 33-10 Dallas victory tells us about a resurgent passing game and the collapse of Philly's special teams.
