Peyton Manning may be a zombie, Chad Ochocinco is the anti-Nevin Shapiro, and Nate Burleson is kind of a jerk in this week's best quotes.

Jim Irsay announced on his Twitter account that the Colts have come to terms with almost-retired quarterback Kerry Collins. ESPN's Chris Mortensen is now reporting that the Colts are not expected to have Peyton Manning available for the start of the season. If that comes to pass against Houston in Week 1, the Colts will be starting someone other than Manning at quarterback for the first time since the 1997 season.

Apparently Larry Fitzgerald was just the first domino to fall in contract extension season. Last night the Browns came to terms with left tackle Joe Thomas on a new contract that will net him $44 million in guaranteed money on top of a seven-year, $84 million package.
This morning, the Steelers joined the fray by re-upping Lawrence Timmons for six years and $50 million. $18 million of which will be in bonuses.

After handing a sizable contract extension to Kevin Kolb earlier this offseason, the Cardinals finally got their best player to commit to the franchise for the long-term as well. According to ESPN, the Cardinals will give Larry Fitzgerald an eight-year, $120 million contract with $50 million in guaranteed money.
In other news, Chris Johnson's agent just bought a round for the house.

This week's quotes include a heaping helping of Nevin Shapiro, Michael Vick's redemption story, and some resolution to Dana Holgorsen's backup quarterback problems.

Courtesy of FO reader Travis, here is a complete list of all the major rule changes to the NFL rules this offseason. I sure hope chartreuse is an acceptable shade of green for the grass!

The NFL, which had postponed it's supplemental draft while they decided what to do about Terrelle Pryor, has ruled that Pryor will be eligible to be selected. However, they have decided to uphold the NCAA's punishment for Pryor, so he will be suspended for the first five games of the NFL season. The draft was rescheduled for Monday, August 22nd.

A "sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule breaking" has been uncovered by Yahoo!'s investigative ninjas at the University of Miami. Former Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro, now in jail for his role in a Ponzi scheme, detailed to Charles Robinson how he gave benefits to at least 72 football players and estimated that the amount of money given to them was "in the millions."

Can the Lions pass rush make up for a flawed secondary? Will Jay Cutler actually have time in the pocket this year? Is Green Bay going to be able to fix their running game? Who exactly is Donovan McNabb going to throw to?
