Pittsburgh and Syracuse "Likely Gone" to ACC

According to CBSSports.com, the wheel of college football realignment has spread to the east coast. Pittsburgh and Syracuse have submitted applications to leave the Big East for the ACC, and both are expected to be admitted.

Brandon Flowers Signs Extension with Chiefs

Somebody told me (it was the Kansas City Star, actually) that the Chiefs and cornerback Brandon Flowers agreed to a new contract last night. According to the paper, the contract is worth $50 million over five years, with $22 million in guarantees.

Cowboys Extend Jason Witten

The Cowboys decided to pay the price to lock up perennial Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten right before the season started. According to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, Witten will sign a five-year extension worth a total of $37 million. $19 million of that is guaranteed.

Vikings, Peterson, Agree on Seven-Year Pact

Adrian Peterson became the latest big star to sign a deal before the start of the NFL season, agreeing on a seven-year, $96 million dollar pact with the Vikings. Escalators can take the total value of the contract to $100 million, and there are $36 million in guarantees along with $40 million in the first three years.

Steelers Re-Sign Troy Polamalu to Four-Year Deal

As first broken by Jason La Canfora, the Steelers and safety Troy Polamalu have agreed on a new four-year contract. Terms were not immediately available, but the sides were discussing numbers above what Eric Weddle got from the Chargers.
