Big news from today's Falcons press conference, as Mike Smith announces Brent Grimes is out for the year with an Achilles injury. Grimes ranked third in the league last year in Success Rate and second in Adjusted Pass Yards, so this is obviously a big loss. Asante Samuel and Dunta Robinson are now your starters at cornerback.

In this week's edition of Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King writes about his stops with the Chiefs, Rams, Colts, and Packers. He says nice things about Andrew Luck and Blaine Gabbert, and some less nice things about the referee lockout and the work the replacement referees have done.

As reported by Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with running back Matt Forte on a four-year deal in the hours before today's deadline for multi-year deals for franchise players. No details yet, but Adam Schefter indicated the deal is for about $8 million a year. Ray Rice and the Ravens have also now agreed to a contract.

With Peter still on vacation, this week's MMQB guest columnist is former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand. He says nice things about his collegiate coach Greg Schiano, talks about his ESPYs experience and his life as it is right now, and advocates a return to the old NFL kickoff rules notwithstanding his injury coming on a kickoff.

In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King talks with GM Rick Smith about the Texans' offseason changes, including the value of being emotionally detached from his plays and the 20-70-10 roster strategy. The recent information on the Saints' ledgers, Jim Harbaugh's ridiculousness regarding Peyton Manning, and reports the Dolphins' decision to appear on Hard Knocks actually wasn't the decision of owner Stephen Ross.
