Larry Allen, Cris Carter, Curley Culp, Jonathan Ogden, Bill Parcells, Dave Robinson, and Warren Sapp were just announced on NFL Network as your 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinees.
Jerome Bettis, Charles Haley, Andre Reed, Michael Strahan, and Aeneas Williams all made the cutdown from 15 to 10, but were not among the five modern-era finalists. Tim Brown, Eddie DeBartolo, Kevin Greene, Art Modell, and Will Shields were the five modern-era finalists eliminated in the first cutdown.
Congratulations to the new enshrinees.

Per Chris Mortensen, Chip Kelly is the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Jay Glazer and Ian Rapoport are both reporting the same thing, so it might actually be true. Until, you know, he backs out of the job in two days after Phil Knight unloads his dump truck in front of Kelly's house again or something.

Well, this is an interesting move. The Chicago Bears have chosen Marc Trestman, head coach of the Montreal Alouettes, as their new head coach. Trestman went 64-34 as head coach of the Alouettes, including back-to-back Grey Cups. He last coached in the NFL eight years ago. His background includes work with Steve Young and Rich Gannon, plus he trained Cutler before the 2006 draft.

In Tuesday's rare press conference, Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery expounded on how he evaluated the Bears offensive line. Sean Jensen provides the transcript, which clocks in at 2,234 words, and it's well worth reading as a rare in depth insight into a GM's thought process.

Multiple reports out of Philadelphia indicate Andy Reid will be fired as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, with it likely becoming official Monday. Reid was the NFL's longest-tenured head coach, having joined the Eagles before the 1999 season. He's reportedly indicated he'd like to coach in 2013, and even without a Super Bowl ring he'll probably be a hot name around the league as other vacancies come open.

Another Saturday, another day with terribly sad news coming out of the NFL. Per reports, around 2:30 A.M. Saturday, Cowboys practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown was killed when a vehicle driven by teammate and roommate Cowboys defensive lineman Josh Brent flipped over. Brent is currently in jail in Irving, TX, charged with intoxicated manslaughter for the fatal wreck. Condolences to Brown's family and friends, and the Cowboys organization.

In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King has more details of his conversation with Joe Linta, Jovan Belcher's agent and recaps, as best he can, what happened outside Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday morning. Plus, Adderall and the normal smattering of news and notes from around the league.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the modern-era semifinalists for the 2013 class. This list of 27 will be reduced to the 15 finalists whose candidacy will be discussed Super Bowl weekend in early January alongside with senior candidate Curley Culp and Dave Robinson. First-year eligibles who made the first cut include Larry Allen, Morten Andersen, John Lynch, Jonathan Ogden, Warren Sapp, and Michael Strahan. No Ray Guy this time around, sorry (but not sorry) punters.
