There were plenty of great games for wide receivers this week, but probably not the ones you were expecting.

Peyton Manning throws seven touchdowns, Adrian Peterson takes boom-and-bust to ridiculous levels, and Blaine Gabbert hits rock bottom.

Is one playoff blowout a few months ago really enough proof that San Francisco is better than Green Bay? Plus, Cover Watch has Arizona (+4.5) at St. Louis.

By canning Ron Rivera! Oh, wait, you mean they kept him? Hmm. Well, there are other things they can do.

Yup. The New England Patriots are signing Tim Tebow. To play football. Not just that, but to play quarterback. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that after releasing Mike Kafka, the Pats will sign Tebow to back up Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett. And, probably, to run some option against the Jets just to stick it to Rex Ryan. New England offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Josh McDaniels was head coach in Denver when the Broncos drafted Tebow in the first round, and presumably endorsed the move.

The Falcons and Bucs are still lacking edge rushers, the Saints need someone to protect Drew Brees, and the Panthers desperately need a second good wideout.

Draftnik favorite Tavon Austin may be zooming up draft boards, but neither he nor the rest of this wide receiver class is well-liked by our Playmaker Score metric.

The Bucs, Panthers, and Saints have some work to do on defense, while the Falcons need to find a workhorse back that actually works.
