Deshaun Watson Tears ACL

As first reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL on a non-contact drill in practice today, ending one of the best stories of the 2017 NFL season and one of the most exciting rookie campaigns on record. This sucks.

Dolphins Trade Ajayi to Eagles

We almost overlooked this with all the other insanity going on at the trade deadline, but the Miami Dolphins have traded running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2018 fourth-round draft pick.

On Thursday night against Baltimore, Ajayi gained 21 yards on his first carry, then 2 yards on his other 13 carries. Dolphins coach Adam Gase had harsh words after the game: "We've got to stop trying to hit home runs all the time. It's on the running back. Do your job. It's not hard to do."

Panthers Trade Kelvin Benjamin to Bills

The Carolina Panthers have traded wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for third- and seventh-round picks in next year's draft.

The trade fills an obvious need for Buffalo, who find themselves in the thick of the playoff chase at 5-2 despite one of the NFL's worst depth chart at wide receiver. Running back LeSean McCoy leads the team in targets and receptions. Second-round rookie Zay Jones is second on the team with 37 targets, but has only caught 10 of those passes.

Bills Trade Marcell Dareus to Jacksonville

Surprising move for a pair of surprising teams this year: the 4-2 Buffalo Bills have traded defensive tackle Marcell Dareus to the 4-3 Jacksonville Jaguars for a sixth-round pick in 2018. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the pick could be a fifth-rounder based on Dareus' performance.

Week 8 Open Game Discussion

Week 8 begins tonight with Baltimore hosting Miami, a contest between two mediocre-at-best clubs that will nonetheless have serious playoff ramifications in this weird year. The week continues through all of Sunday's action, including the Steelers and Lions in prime time, and closes out on Monday night with Denver visiting Kansas City in a critical AFC West showdown. Use this thread to discuss all the action.

Week 7 Quick Reads

They both won games this week, but while Ben Roethlisberger started hot against Cincinnati, it was a constant battle for Philip Rivers against Denver. Is that random noise, or do some quarterbacks really tend to play streakier than others?

Vince Verhei on the Bill Barnwell Show

I got together with our old buddy Bill Barnwell to talk about some of the biggest games in Week 7: Falcons-Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch, Cardinals-Rams from London with major playoff implications, Saints-Packers in Brett Hundley's first start, and, uh ... Seahawks-Giants? Look, it's not a great week of games.
