The Worst Coaching Mistakes in Super Bowl History

SI.com's Don "Mr. Top 5 List" Banks brings us his list of the five worst coaching mistakes in Super Bowl history:

Don Shula waiting too long to replace Earl Morrell with Johnny Unitas
Mike Holmgren letting the Broncos score
Mike Ditka not calling a play for Walter Payton to score
Mike Martz under-utilizing Marshall Faulk
Marv Levy not trying to get the ball closer for Scott Norwood's field goal

Cardinals Unveil "Tougher" Team Logo

Possibly the most meaningless story ever posted on Extra Points, and I say that in a good way. Seriously, there is no joke I can make that will compare to just looking at the new logo and the old logo side by side and then reading the quotes from the Cardinals brass.

Football Commentary: Conference Championship Strategy Review

A short article this week from our buddy William Krasker, but he talks about the play that everyone was talking about. Yes, Bill Cowher should have gone for the touchdown. Also, a look at Philadelphia's "grab the wind" timeout.

TMQ: Democracy Bowl

Fire up the muskets, as the Boston Tea Party takes on the Liberty Bell in this year's Super Bowl. This week, says TMQ, Pittsburgh and Atlanta learned that the safe strategy isn't usually so safe. Plus advice for the Colts and the usual TMQ michigoss.

Snap Judgment: See You in Jacksonville

The Snap Judgment crew, including yours truly, dissects the conference championships. What went wrong with Vick and Roethlisberger, and can anything confuse Tom Brady in the playoffs? Hidden in this column are my initial thoughts on the Super Bowl based on our Football Outsiders statistics, and a unique explanation for Big Ben's troubles from one of this site's (former) writers. I'm trying to name drop everyone from the FO staff before the season ends.

MMQB: Turning Points

In today's MMQB, Peter King revisits the game between the Eagles and Patriots in 2003 and looks forward to the Super Bowl. Not too much new there, but that's nothing against King. With no surprise team, there's not much to talk about this year, and we've got two weeks to talk about not much. Two weeks of "Are the Patriots a Dynasty?" and "Will T.O. Play?" and its little cousin, "Will Seymour Play?"

Steelers Upset About Lack of Respect

This is just getting stupid. Has there ever been an NFL player to tell a reporter, "You know, I really appreciate all the support... Honestly, you all respect us so much. You couldn't respect us any more. It's too much respect, really. Can you please respect us less?" The NFL is like a big respect black hole, in which all respect is sucked into a negative zone and therefore everyone feels disrespected.

Very simple: The two best, most balanced teams in football this year, and only one gets to go to the Super Bowl. With help from Michael David Smith's tape analysis, added notes from resident Steelers fan Ryan Wilson, and our Football Outsiders statistics, Aaron previews the AFC conference championship.
