The FO staff gives its predictions on the 2008 season, guaranteed to be wrong in one way or another for every single staff member. But, hey, we're a football site, and the season's starting, so it's prediction time.

This week's ESPN column looks at the Lewin Career Forecast and what it says about the top four quarterback prospects in this year's draft. (Don't freak out if the system doesn't seem fully explained; remember, ESPN articles have size constraints.)

Big news: Doug Farrar will be the first FO writer to appear on the NFL Network, in his other guise as editor-in-chief of SEAHAWKS.NET. He will be discussing Seattle's draft strategy on Path to the Draft, Thursday night at 6:30pm EDT. (UPDATE: Link shows video so you can watch for yourself!)

Hey, remember when we posted an XP a couple of months ago looking for interns? Well, guess what -- we're looking for some more to supplement our initial group.
The qualifications are, again, that you're a student (either graduate or undergraduate is fine) with 10 hours or more a week to commit to FO projects. The skill sets we're looking for involve work with large data sets, familiarity with Excel, good communication skills and, most importantly, reliability. We can't stress how important the last one is -- it trumps all the rest.

Hi everyone,
Recently, we've been noticing a lot of negativity on the comment threads towards both us and other posters.
Receiving criticism is, of course, part of our jobs, and something we're cool with. Giving us criticism of the "U WERE SO WRONG ABOUT ______" is pretty obnoxious, though, as is the "The Outsiders are so obviously fixing their numbers to avoid saying nice things about ______". (Hint: We don't have enough time to fix the numbers against every player we've ever said something mean about.)

Hey, Football Outsiders readers. State Farm insurance has a fun little contest where they're giving away a whole Pro Bowl Hawaii vacation package. From what we can tell, you don't have to specifically buy anything; all you have to do is go to the URL linked in this XP and enter. There's also a Pro Bowl history quiz, although we can't imagine many people who know a ton about Pro Bowl history. We don't even remember who was in the game last year. Brian Moorman was there, right? But for crying out loud people: Free trip to Hawaii!

Two teams remain undefeated and two more stay winless, as America now prepares for the next installment of Pats-Colts. (Too bad the Rams and Dolphins don't play each other this year!) Also, the Jets try a non-defense defense, Andy Reid gets cute in the red zone, Frank Gore tries to remember what the red zone looks like, and the Saints and Chargers continue their positive turnarounds.

This week, we give Mike Tanier a well-deserved week off and turn Too Deep Zone over to our game charters. After watching several weeks' worth of games on tape, they have insights on a number of teams, among them the Jets, Dolphins, Broncos, Texans and Saints.

Kickers set records and start fights. The Patriots are automatic, and so are the Rams (in a different way, of course). Everyone says kind things about Trent Edwards, the Cover-2 is debated, and Matt Vasgersian cooks Tiki Barber's goose in a very wide-ranging Audibles.

Is Marion Barber really better than Julius Jones, or is this just a product of how each back is used in the offense? (Click link to read more.)
