Greetings, draftniks! Day Two of the Combine featured lots of quarterback press conferences, and there are no Robert Griffin or Andrew Luck types in this draft when it comes to sounding charismatic and impressive at the podium, for whatever that's worth. Also, Jim Harbaugh is an odd dude.

Andy Benoit and I are running around Indy trying to meet with coaches and low-level front office people, rather than generally hovering around the media room. So instead of FO-only combine reports this year, we decided to just depend on the dependable Mike Tanier to do the dependable Mike Tanier thing of finding humor and one or two actual comments of interest within the dependably repetitive day-long parade of coaches and general managers refusing to give the media any details about "THE PROCESS."

Forgot to post this yesterday, due to Daddy Duty. The ages of quarterback prospects, why it matters, and 120 hours in the life of Titus Young. Also at Sports on Earth: my wide receiver Top Fives continue with the Dolphins, and the Jets should be up by Wednesday.

It's that time of year: time for me to count down the top five players by position for all 32 NFL teams. This year, I am counting down wide receivers, and I am doing it at my little Tailgater blog over at Sports on Earth.
The Patriots are up first; I am starting with the AFC so I can put off worrying about 1930s "ends" for a few weeks or months. I will post an XP every time I complete a division, but feel free to stop by the Tailgater from time to time to see what I am up to. If it is too weird or wonky for the main site, it will be there.

I know, I should not keep going back to the Jay Cutler well. But I am not the only one making him look silly in the name of self-branding: I am clearly in line behind his fiance. At any rate, here is some football stuff.

My general-audience bit on the clash of strategies, the blackout adventure, and what this really means for fullbacks.

This is the official, high-profile "I taught Joe Flacco" story, with video of me accosting him on Media Day. I want to thank Colin Kaepernick's math teacher for helping out.

This is one of those roundups of the craziness of Super Bowl week. Correction: it is MY roundup of the craziness of Super Bowl week, so it is rounder and upper than the others. Will drop an XP or two from New Orleans here this week.

Despite the title, this is not a long "I knew Flacco when he was 15" piece; I just start with a bit about the excitement here in my corner of Camden County. Then, it is off to a frame-by-frame rundown of the Patriots during their line-up drill before halftime, and making fun of the Falcons. Enjoy!
