College football blogger The Wiz of Odds has analyzed expense reports from 56 of the 70 teams that played in bowl games last year, to try to figure out if the bowl games really are the moneymakers that many college football officials claim them to be. The biggest issue here seems to be "ticket guarantees." Schools agree to purchase a percentage of tickets in order to play in a bowl game, which means if those tickets don't sell to the public, the school is on the hook. And the University of Connecticut got MASSIVELY screwed playing in last year's Fiesta Bowl.

As discussed during the live chat of the draft's first round, here's Bob Condotta's story in the Seattle Times on Hugh Millen's review of Jake Locker's 4-for-20, 71-yard game against Nebraska, a game where Millen said Locker made more good plays than bad (though he conceded the game was "still a poor day").

Kudos to NFL.com's Adam Rank for coming up with this idea. He has 12 quotes; six each from recently off-the-deep-end actor Charlie Sheen, and six from quote-worthy Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett. Bennett's quotes don't even include his recent assertion that the Cowboys should have an open quarterback competition between Jon Kitna and Tony Romo, but he's got a few doozies in there.

Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the NFL, and should be the highest-paid. We can all agree on that. But this guest column by Kevin Kolbe explains why salaries for other quarterbacks are all out of whack.
