We've generally refrained from posting updates about conference reallignment scenarios, but just to catch everyone up on this week's news ...
Everything that happens now is happening now. What happened to then? We passed it. When? Just now. We're at now, now. Go back to then. When? Now. Now? Now! I can't. Why? We missed it. When? Just now.

Offensive line problems highlight the needs in the NFC North ... except in Chicago, which is kind of unsettling to think about.

Fuck Yeah Spaceballs!
I'm looking forward to when Hawaii joins the Big East.
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
East is relative, it is close to the Far East, right?
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
I've thought for a long time that the less stable a league is, the less seriously it is possible to take it.
It's pretty clear which conferences it's possible to take at all seriously.
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
None of them. This is making college football in general look silly.
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
The 22-team merged conference is one of those things that you wonder about why it's taken this long to happen.
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
All this hopping around is getting ludicrous.
Re: Conference Reallignment Goes Plaid
it would be, if it hasn't been happening for the past 100 years or so.
Just get it over with though. The CUSA-MWC 22 team merger won't be for long because the Big East and Big 12 are going to pick some teams off as well.
geography be damned, apparently...
I'm hoping the big east invites Hawaii...

The MAC stands alone... the MAC stands alone...
Re: Conference Realignment Goes Plaid
It is about time for football and basketball be independent from other sports structure, with their own conferences.
The CUSA/MWC move seems to go in this direction...
Re: Conference Realignment Goes Plaid
Anyone care to explain how CUSA + MWC = BCS conference? I see a whole lot of quantity, but not a lot of quality.
Re: Conference Realignment Goes Plaid
I'd guess that in each of the last half-dozen years, the best team from among Boise State, Wyoming, Nevada, Air Force, Houston, SMU, UCF, Marshall, and East Carolina was better than the Big East champion and the ACC champion. Maybe that's more an argument that the Big East and ACC should not be automatic-bid conferences, but I think that a combined MWC-CUSA looks as good at the top of the conference as 1/3 of the current BCS conferences, and better than any other current non-BCS conference.
Re: Conference Realignment Goes Plaid
What's the format on 22 or 20 team league? If they had, exactly 20 they could do 4 5-team divisions. 4 division games, 3 against one team in each other division, and a flex game based on those 7 games, with division leaders pairing off (as a semifinal) to determine final 2 teams for conference championship.
