CBS's Bruce Feldman is reporting that the Washington State Cougars will turn their football program over to former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. Paul Wulff is out after guiding the Cougars to a 9-40 record over their past four seasons.

Minor weaknesses dot these teams. Except for Arizona, which needs to bring in more help to really run Bruce Arians' offense.

Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
With how bad the Cardinals have been this year, i kind of foresaw Leach jumping ship. Nice to see he was able to get such a high profile job on a very limited resume - he always seemed like a nice guy.

HAHA!
Wait...At least I think your joking....
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
I was joking. I know next to nothing about college football, and every time i hear Mike Leach mentioned my mind goes to the longsnapper.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
I think of the wide receiver he locked in the shed, or something like that... What's the longsnapper?
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
That Wide Receiver was Craig James' kid. Leach was a little tired of daddy calling the coach, asking why his son wasn't playing. Leach is a socially awkward A-Hole, but It's hard for me to blame him for the situation.

Long time Broncos longsnapper.

Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
He didn't lock anyone in a shed.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
So my dream of him taking over as OC for the Broncos and officially creating the Most Polarizing Team Ever is dead, I guess.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
I've noticed this Rule/Law lately (similar to the Godwin Rule):
"As an online football discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Tim Tebow approaches 1."
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
Woo-Hoo!! Let's hear it for the return of the Air Raid! Thanks Craig James.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
At least this means he won't mention how great a fit he would be for every college opening that comes up. Right?
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
I'm actually kind of disappointed. I've always had a fond spot in my fandom for leach, and was hoping he'd land in greener recruiting pastures like UCLA or ASU.
Really, I think he'd be better off at a place like Memphis or FAU, to be able to compete with comparable talent to the rest of the respective conference, even though its not a big 6 program. He never had great recruiting classes at TT.
Who's knows. Maybe he'll strike gold and jump ship after 2-3 years.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
Why has Washington State's football program been so awful the past...however long? A horrible string of coaches, bad AD(s), de-emphasis/non-emphasis on athletics, uncommonly horrible luck, or something else?
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
My guess is because there are pleasanter places to play than Pullman, Washington. Nothing against the place. I'm sure the campus and people are nice. But if you had a choice between Wash St, Wash, Oregon, and Oregon St, my guess is you'd probably take one of the last three. While Lincoln, NE may not be much either, it does have a great tradition with a fanatical fan base. Unless they get someone dynamic enough to make it an excellent program like Barry Alvarez did to a moribund Wisconsin program, they'll continue to be mediocre.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
Guy won every year at Texas Tech..
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
My knowledge of Washington State football pretty much consists of Ryan Leaf played for them and they suck, but I am now officially a fan. That man is awesome.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
I know they have an alumni who's showed up every week for twenty years on ESPN College Gameday with a school flag. Maybe that guy will be locked in a closet to break the string.
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
Even better than Josh McDaniels?
Re: Mike Leach to Coach at Washington State
Josh McDaniels neither locks people in cupboards nor thinks he's a pirate. There's no comparison.
