2 Trades, 2 Answers

I have good depth at both WR and RB, so disregard my "needs" when reviewing these trades. My top 2 RBs are Brandon Jacobs and Ronnie Brown. My top 2 WRs are Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson.

I have been proposed to following two trades:

1. Give: Ronnie Brown/Roy Williams
Get: Steven Jackson

2. Give: Larry Fitzgerald/Brandon Jacobs
Get: Calving Johnson/Matt Forte

Personally I am leaning towards doing both trades. I think Ronnie Brown will at best stay the same, but probably decrease in stats with Pennington out. And Roy Williams has been, well, eh, and would at best be a flex/bye week option after my top 2 WRs. Steven Jackson, although no TDs, has broke 100 yards twice so far this season and is going to continue to get unlimited touches per game.
In the second deal, I'm a little bit more torn. I'm thinking Calvin is not much of a downgrade from Fitz, while Forte, if he pulls it together, would be a significant upgrade from Jacobs.

Please let me know what you guys think!

I agree with you that #1 is an easy yes, all the more so since you would never start Williams except on bye weeks.

Two is basically a challenge trade. I would consider Fitz/Johnson a wash, so it really has to do with what you think of Jacobs vs. Forte the rest of the way. Jacobs has a longer track record, but also a longer injury history. Personally, I wouldn't, but I think it's about 50/50 for either side of that deal to be better by season's end.

Thanks, i agree that the biggest decision is on Forte and Jacobs. I'm leaning towards doing it only because even at Forte's worst right now, he's putting up comparable numbers to Jacobs (but without the TD)

I disagree on Trade #1. StL's offense looks atrocious, and I'd rather have Brown than Jackson.

The 2nd trade I'd do, but I value Forte's future much higher than Jacobs.

I agree with you, Dash. While Ronnie Brown is probably overvalued at this point, he is probably still a better option than Jackson right now. It's a bad play to trade Brown + anything for Jackson, even someone like Roy Williams.

Fitzgerald is probably better than Megatron going forward because of the injury and lack of quarterbacking in Detroit, but Forte is a definate upgrade over Jacobs. I'd reject trade one and probably do trade 2.
