I was a big fan of Shaun up through his MVP year. I thought the Seahawks overpaid him in 2005 and made the only choice they could when they cut him in 2007. Now, Shaun has given an interview comparing himself to the Jones/Duckett combination of last year. Danny O'Neill, Seattle Times Seahawks Blog writer, puts numbers to Shaun's musings. Not surprisingly, Shaun comes off as delusional. Hat tip to Mike Sando's NFC West Blog on espn.com, where I first found the link.

Re: Shaun Alexander:
I enjoyed the editing of Danny O'Neill's sarcasm haha. Someone doesn't like Shaun Alexander...
And fair enough comments from Shaun I think, there isn't a huge different between his raw numbers and Duckett/Jones. But let's compare DVOA for the 'Hawks runners in the last 3 years:
Jones 2008: -10.2% on 158 runs
Duckett 2008: 7.3% on 62 runs
Morris 2008: -1.1% on 132 runs
Alexander 2007: -17.3% on 207 runs
Morris 2007: 0.7% on 141 runs
Alexander 2006: -13.8% on 252 runs
Morris 2006: -11.3% on 161 runs
Hmmm not quite so comparable.
