Favorite to win it all

College football is coming pretty darn soon (at least it feels like it to me). So who is the favorite to win it all in 2009 and why?

It pains me to say it, but Florida looks to be the easy and obvious choice. They return everyone on defense and some dude named Tim Tebow (he sometimes gets talked about during the season). They probably will not get challenged until the SEC championship game or even the national championship game. LSU on the road might be their toughest game all-season and the SEC East is pretty darn mediocre looking right now, and they get to miss Ole Miss and Alabama during the regular season.

Florida is definately loaded but it won't be easy at all. Making it through the SEC healthy and undefeated is extra tough. LSU and Bama will be better, as will Ol Miss to give Florida one test after another.

Look for the Longhorns from Texas to make another national title run. They are loaded also. USC...ditto.

I'm sure there will ba a few surprise teams that make a run for the money like always. I can't wait for the season to begin.

You have to look at Florida as the clear cut favorite to win it all. Besides the ridiculous amount of talent they have, with college football its more of who you play and when you play them. Florida avoids playing two of the best teams from the west in Alabama and Ole Miss which is a huge adv for them. The toughest game they have is at LSU which will undoubtedly be at night but they get that game after having a bye week which slightly helps. Other than that they only have 3 true road games, all of which are against sub par opponents. They play Georgia but that is at the "neutral" location of Jacksonville which last time I checked is slightly closer to Gainesville than Athens. There is no doubt in my mind that they play for the title again, unfortunately, and have a very good chance of taking the whole thing.

Florida should be the favorite, with Texas and Oklahoma a close 2 and 3. I think USC will be up there, but they lost too many players on that defense to be considered a favorite over UF, UT, and OK.

I have a UGA grad as a coworker, and he has pointed out 2 things about this year's World's Largest Outside Cocktail Party:

1. UGA has an off week while Florida does not. UGA won the last time that happened.

2. UGA has beaten Florida the year after they have won their two MNC's

He is convinced that either UGA or LSU will beat them this year.

College Football games are just as famous and exciting as its pro brother, the NFL games. The college football season is starting in less than a month away, and everyone is excited.
