FOA Errors? Post Them Here.

Hey, we're not perfect. I'm sure there are errors in there, no matter how hard we tried to make sure they were all gone. If you find an error, post it here, and we'll fix it for future downloads.

"we'll fix it for future downloads."

When we purchase, are we purchasing a single download or are we purchasing the right to download it again each time it is corrected? Just curious. I am definitely buying, but am trying to decide if I would rather get it fast or get it with most of the previously un-caught errors corrected...

Do depth chart issues count as errors? If so, on the Bears defense Craig Steltz has been running as the first team FS, not Bullocks, and his main competition seems to be Corey Graham, not Bowman (who has gone back to CB). Idonije has dropped the weight that he added last year and should have a bigger special teams role again; on defense the plan is to give him more work at DE than DT. Adams is in competition with Dvoracek & Harrison to play at DT, and at LB Hillenmeyer seems more likely to get cut than Roach or Williams.

FOA + KUBIAK Purchase, but NO FILES TO DOWNLOAD
by RichlyMade :: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 3:51pm

Maybe I can help? If you paid via PayPal with a credit card, navigate back to the home page. You'll see a button on the left hand side that you couldn't see before. Click it. You'll be reading shortly thereafter.

Here's an error to correct: Julius Jones (#15) was ranked higher than Chris Johnson (#16) in fantasy football...at least I hope that that was a mistake ;) The point being: well done guys. You've offered more thought-provoking material for another year. I can't wait to digest it all over the next few days.

Re: FOA Errors? Post Them Here.
by RichlyMade :: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 4:31pm

"If you paid via PayPal with a credit card, navigate back to the home page."
- Are you talking about the FO homepage?

"You'll see a button on the left hand side that you couldn't see before."
- Which button is that? Are you talking about "My Files"?

I've attempted to access My Files several times, and every time I'm informed that I "have no files to download". I've logged out and back in several times as well, also to no avail.

Clearly the file is available for others, so I'm curious what would be holding it up in my case. No response back from Tech Support yet either.

Thanks for any assistance,

Rich

Problem is fixed, sorry guys. I sent an e-mail to everyone who sent an e-mail to our mailbag within a few minutes.

Please keep the errors coming.

As for the Bears depth chart -- that chapter was done about a month ago. Things change after we lock chapters up. We're not looking for those sort of issues, but strictly typos.

27
Re: FOA Errors? Post Them Here.
by Aaron Schatz :: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 5:07pm

Right. Just to follow up on Bill's comments: This should be the place to post errors in the book, not technical issues. For technical issues, please use the contact form.

I'm sorry people are not happy about customer service. This is not a big-time operation with an office full of people, and we would rather be working on solving problems than working on constant updates about how we haven't been able to solve the problems.

As for depth chart issues, there are a lot of reports out there about the depth charts of certain teams, and things change from day to day or week to week. If we had to rewrite the book every time some team with a finished chapter changed its depth chart, the book would never come out.

We're interested here in misspellings and wrong statistics - that's the kind of errors we can change, typos we should have seen the first, second, third, and 45th times around.

Thanks. I hope people enjoy the book.

Re: FOA Errors? Post Them Here.
by Tom Gower :: Thu, 07/09/2009 - 11:35pm

"Minutia" should be "Minutiae" in the introductory part of the text.

Titans LB Stephen Tullouch is referred to as "Steven" in the Titans' defensive front 7 section.

Chris Carr is referred to as the Titans' kickoff returner-he signed with the Ravens in March, so that's a glaring error. Also wrong is that the Titans "made no outside moves to bolster the defense", as they signed Jovan Haye from the Bucs and penciled him in as the starter next to Brown. Haye isn't mentioned in the Defensive Front Seven section, either, which seems odd.

Have you tried saving a copy and inserting a page before page 1?

One mistake I found is with Julius Jones. No way you guys actually think he's good. You have him projected for 11 rushing tds! Julius Jones is a terrible player and he smokes cigarettes. How can you be a starting running back and smoke cigarettes...answer...you can't. Even if he is the starter...which I can't imagine...you guys think Duckett won't steal goal line carries? But, the thing I can't figure out is in the T.J. Duckett section you call him, "the best goaline back in football!" This is shockingly inconsistent.

So far, i'm disappointed with this purchase.

Re: FOA Errors? Post Them Here.
by shlynch :: Fri, 07/10/2009 - 11:55pm

I am having a great deal of difficulty replicating the Playmaker Score results. For example, Reggie Wayne only gets the cited 16.0 if one counts his senior season only. Andre Johnson's 16.5 appears to only include his sophomore and junior seasons, but not his freshman year. Santana Moss gets below 8.0 when you look at his senior year, but above an 8.0 when you look at his full college career.

When the complete college careers of the full sample of 51 was looked at, I had a great deal of trouble getting the classification results you showed: I had approximately 23 players who were at an 8 or below. The answer must be that you are considering only a portion of these players' college careers.

Yet the full college careers of the 2009 draft class is included for comparison.

I am not sure that your study shows what it purports to.

Re: FOA Errors? Post Them Here.
by Vincent Verhei :: Sat, 07/11/2009 - 3:41am

The NCAA Web site lists only one season for both Moss and Wayne. It does list Johnson as playing three seasons, but his first season consisted of 11 games played and only three catches. The spreadsheet I used was prepared before the draft -- I think it only uses numbers for players when they were starters.

Unfortunately, I just ran off what is hopefully the final version of the PDF to send to CreateSpace, and at this point making my computer churn for several more hours is not worth it to fix grammar details. But if there are more screw-ups (and suffice to say this process has NOT gone smoothly), I'll throw that in.

The table on page 508, 'Top 20 QBs, Passes Defensed', incorrectly lists B. Favre as playing for GB. Do not fax this to Ted Thompson.

Meanwhile on page 507, in the table 'Bottom QBs in Knockdowns per pass', you have the same B. Favre playing for MIN. Jumping the gun a little, aren't you?

The table that had him in Min was all messed up and has been fixed in the update. In the "Top 20 Quarterbacks, Passes Defensed" table on p. 508, Favre in GB is the only mistake, and it has not been fixed in the update.

Your campaign to instil false hope in Bengals fans continues. In 'Rating the medical staffs' on page 494, you compare Cincinnati's injury woes with Washington's in 1998. Your sunny remark that Washington rebounded in 1999 is true, but exaggerated: they finished 10-6, not 13-3. I mean, who in their right mind would imagine a Norv Turner team winning more than 12 games? Eh?

Small point, but on page 505, you list DeMarcus Ware with 13 QB hits, and then in the next table, with 32 hits+sacks. He had 20 sacks, not 19. It's minor, but it is the difference between 2nd and tied for first in knockdowns.
