Help Needed

I am new to the site and am trying to figure out how the statistics available here can be applied to fantasy football. Do the individual statistics measure a player's true talent level like how sabermetrics do with baseball and thus you are able to identify players that are in for a breakout/bust year? Or are the stats meant to clarify a player's past performance?
