Philip Rivers/Matt Forte

Quick question looking for some advice (hopefully from both sides!) I'm in a 10 team, non-PPR standard scoring league, I have Adrian Peterson and Matt Forte (with Beanie Wells, Fred Jackson on the bench) and my QB's are Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler. I've been offered Phillip Rivers for Matt Forte, but am hesitent 1) replacing Forte's production with Jackson and Wells isn't exactly great lol and 2) How long is Manning out? If not long my experience is QB's are not easy to flip quite often, I don't want to dump Forte needlessly...

There are a few interesting angles with this trade.

1. There really isn't much public information that I've seen about how long term Peyton's injury is, so he is clouded in mystery right now.
2. I love Matt Forte, but Wells may be able to provide a good percentage of his value.
3. In my experience, having 2 elite QBs on your roster is really difficult, since all teams know you pretty much have to trade one and therefore won't be willing to offer fair value back.

You need to find out what you can get if you decide to trade Peyton. Put some feelers out and see what you think you can get, but in a 10 team league it might not be much since everyone should have a decent QB. If you can trade Peyton for a decent WR or something, then overall you get Phillip Rivers and a decent WR, and lose Peyton and Forte. I think this is pretty close (and I am almost always against trading RBs for QBs), but you cannot make this trade without a plan for what you are going to do with Peyton. My advice would be to not make the train and ride out Peyton's injury, but it's pretty close.

I wouldn't do it. In a 10 team league, I'd value a RB way more than a QB. Who is your current backup? Who's on the WW? I'm a Bears fan - but not a Cutler fan for fantasy football - so I would be looking at other options, either in trading Wells or Jackson for a different backup or in searching the WW.

Keep Forte. Dont get flustered yet. The reports on Manning arent official. First of all, Forte is a proven commidity. Wells isnt. If you are concerned about Mannings availability, (and/or Cutler) scan the Waiver Wire and see who is avialable. There is bound to be someone you can use on a spot start even if Manning is out and you dont want to rely on Cutler.

I would consider the waiver wire before jumping for Rivers. If you can get Ryan Fitzpatrick, for example, you shouldn't make that trade.
