Round 13 and 14 scrubs...

I picked Heyward-Bey and Jerome Harrison in rounds 13 and 14 in my draft. One of them needs to go for a kicker before Week 1, but I figured I could decide on that a little later.

Now reading camp reports and seeing the most recent KUBIAK sheet, I definitely need to drop Harrison. My question is do you think I should also part with Heyward-Bey in favor of either Ladell Betts or James Davis?

FYI - Here was my draft, 12 team snake, 9th pick, 6 points per TD, No PPR

1. Brees
2. A Johnson
3. R Brown
4. T Jones
5. K Moreno
6. A Gonzalez
7. C Benson
8. D Hixon
9. B Roethlisberger
10. O Daniels
11. Bears D
12. J Charles
13. Heyward-Bey
14. J Harrison

I would drop both of them. There has to be a better WR to give you more depth there.

Agreed, your depth at WR is completely non-existant. If you had to pick out of those options though, I'd take James Davis.

I don't know about getting Ladell Betts or James Davis (really the best options?) but I don't think dropping Heyward-Bey will cost you any sleepless nights.

Potential other receivers:
Justin Gage
Davone Bess
Joey Galloway
Chris Chambers
Mark Bradley

Heyward-Bey was a reach for upside, which I don't see much of in these guys.

Potential other backs:
Betts is highest left on Kubiak

Slim pickings out there

Betts has been notoriously overvalued by Kubiak thanks to its undervaluing of Clinton Portis (largely because he's been pretty healthy the last couple years). He would be awesome should Portis go down, but I think it's more likely for Portis to lose effectiveness rather than go down completely, limiting Betts value.

If it was a PPR league, or a week ago, I would be much higher on Bess. I think most of those WRs have more upside than DHB, some in different ways.

I like Bradley as a sleeper, since KC may be focused more on passing, may be playing catchup, and Bowe is going to draw the attention of the defense. And is his QB going to be more of an issue than DHB's?

Galloway's a complete crapshoot where it's easy to name a couple reasons for and against him being productive.

Gage showed signs of life last year when healthy, and is definitely WR1 with Washington's injury. It's a run-first team, but they lost big Albert in the middle of their D.

Chambers I'm very leery of, though there's a chance of him being the occasional WR TD-vulture.

Are any of these available?
Chris Henry (probably not available at this point), Josh Morgan, Earl Bennet, Nate Burleson, Laurent Robinson, Deon Butler, Robert Meacham

None are sure things, though some are to get plenty of PT, but things could fall right for any of them to be pretty valuable.

Chaz Schillens would be good to stash, because he's back a couple weeks into the season, and is reportedly the only WR that Russell has any chemistry or trust with (why I'm looking at Miller as a TE possibility).

Bennett and Henry are still available. Burleson and Morgan are taken. The others don't really interest me too much.

I'll probably go for Bennett. Probably a lot more upside with Cutler there than counting on the Bengals offense or Jamarcus Russell. Thanks for the help.

Davis over Betts, certainly--higher likelihood of becoming the guy.

Might also look into Meachem, Morgan, Austin, or Bennett for WR help.
