RB2 Roulette: Best, Forte, or Brown

Week 1 is a love/hate relationship for me when it comes to fantasy. I love the fact that football is back, but I hate the unknown factors when setting my line up. I was happy with the depth I was able to get at RB, but now I have a collection of RB2s that could all produce at a high level. Ray Rice is my RB1 then I have J.Best (CHI), Forte (DET) and R.Brown (BUF).

I know traditional wisdom says to start your starters since they got drafted ahead of the bench players for a reason, but there's a lot of potential upside for all three of these guys. I have a nagging feeling that I might leave a lot of points on the bench.

Best will be getting a full work load against a defense that wasn't great last year. Forte has perennially weak Detroit, but they've got Suh now and I'm not sure what impact he'll have. I'm unsure how many carries Chester Taylor will get. R. Brown is in a time share with R. Williams, but has Buffalo. Also throwing a wrench into my thought process is FO projecting Chicago and Buffalo to be #2 and #3 defenses respectively. The Buffalo projection seems crazy, but it's left me scratching my head for week 1.

I currently have R. Brown in, but am leaning Forte after writing this out.

Any thoughts? The league is standard scoring with no PPR.

Forte would be the no brainer in a PPR league, I'd still call him the best of your three.
Skip Ronnie until he's proven himself. Too many question on how quickly he'll regain his old workload and his old confidence. Given you have other good options, bench him until he's had a big game.

I actually think Brown is the worst option of the three. Again, its opportunities, and he is giving up carries to Ricky Williams.

Forte is your best option, he's the primary guy in Chicago and involved in all phases of the offense.

I think Best is going to be similar situation-wise to Forte as the season unfolds. He has big upside, but bench him until you see more, given that you have better options.

I had asked in regard to Week 1, but I'm going back and forth on this one again this week, so thanks for your input. I actually left Forte on my bench last week which was aggravating, but I still pulled out the W.

Once again I'm leaning Forte, but Yahoo! projections are leaning Best. So your, and any other, insight is appreciated.

Whoops! Maybe I should read a little more closely :)

I still think Forte over Best. Best is talented for sure, but early in the season, I like to "go with what you know". Forte is more of a known quantity at this point, so he's my pick.

I'd lean Forte this week over Best. They matchup against similarly tough defenses, but I think Forte will have more opportunities.

Thanks guys. I'm rolling with Forte this week even though Yahoo projects him lower than my other options. I swear those projections only exist to make me second guess my self.

Is there any way I can edit out the 'week 1' in title of my post? I foresee this being an issue for me for at least the first half of the season. :)

Argh! So last week I left Forte on the bench with 30 points and this week it was J. Best on the bench with 40! I will still probably win my match up this week, but it's sad to see all those points die a meaningless death on the bench. It gets real fun next week (week 3) as I have:

Ronnie Brown (Jets)
Jahvid Best (@Vikings)
Matt Forte (Packers)

I was excited to get so many decent options at RB2, but it's killing me so far because while they have all been productive, I've left a lot on the bench these first two weeks.
