Week 1: Running Backs

I'm playing my first game in a new league with some crazy scoring:

RuTD - Rushing TD 5 points
Plus 2 points for a RuTD of 10 to 19 Yds
Plus 4 points for a RuTD of 20 to 29 Yds
Plus 7 points for a RuTD of 30 to 39 Yds
Plus 10 points for a RuTD of 40+ Yds

RuYd - Rushing Yards 0 - 99 RuYds = 1 point for every 10 RuYds
100+ RuYds = 2 points for every 10 RuYds
Plus a 5 point bonus @ 100+ RuYd
Plus a 5 point bonus @ 150+ RuYd

FL - Fumble Lost, Including ST plays -3 points

ReTD - Receiving TD 7 points
Plus 2 points for a ReTD of 10 to 19 Yds
Plus 5 points for a ReTD of 20 to 29 Yds
Plus 8 points for a ReTD of 30 to 39 Yds
Plus 13 points for a ReTD of 40+ Yds

ReYd - Receiving Yards 0 - 99 ReYds = 1 point for every 10 ReYds
100+ ReYds = 2 points for every 10 ReYds
Plus a 5 point bonus @ 100+ ReYd
Plus a 5 point bonus @ 150+ ReYd

I'm trying to decide between starting Chris Johnson and Joseph Addai. I've already got LT penciled in for a starting spot. It's hard for me to start my #3 RB over my #1 in week 1, but Addai has a better matchup and has looked better in the preseason(I think). But, Addai's my 3rd RB because he fell in the draft due to injury concerns, and hes healthy now, so it could be argued he's more of a #2 at the moment. What do you think? Thanks, John

I forgot, I also get 1 PPR.

I'd start Johnson.

That scoring system rewards big plays so much that you're insane if you don't start Chris Johnson, Steelers or no Steelers.

Who to start week 1? Need 3. Non-PPR.

Steven Jackson (@SEA) Given
Leon Washington (@HOU)
Felix Jones (@TB)
Julius Jones (STL)
Kowshon Moreno (@CIN)

Of that group, I'd start Moreno and Leon Washington in addition to Steven Jackson. Felix Jones has a tougher matchup and Julius Jones is a risk to lose all goal line carries to Edgerrin James.

It will be interesting to see how this season pans out for Julius Jones. When KUBIAK first came out this summer, JJ was projected for 14 total TDs. There was some uproar about that. Then there were some adjustments to KUBIAK, giving some TDs to TJ Duckett. Then more adjustments with TJ's cut and the Edge's signing. Today, while perusing the discussion boards, I saw someone saying that JJ's projections were too low for a #1 RB in the NFL.

At any rate, I was able to pick him up off the waiver wire in my fantasy football league, yet I still don't feel confident with the guy. On the other hand, there's too much inherent value to risk dumping him.

Need to start 2. 1 PPR league.

Ray Rice (KC)
Julius Jones (StL)
Ahmad Bradshaw (Was)
Leon Washington (@Hou)

Jones and Rice.

I'm having a bit of an RB2 dilemma.

AP (starting obviously)
Julius Jones (STL)
Larry Johnson (@BAL)
Thomas Jones (@HOU)
LeSean McCoy (@CAR)

I'm leaning towards JJ based on match ups, but am worried about his scoring potential with Edge in the mix. The only other play I see here is Thomas Jones. Standard scoring (no PPR), any advice on who to roll with as my RB2?

With Pierre Thomas looking more and more likely to sit out, what would be a better play? Pick up Mike Bell and start him instead, or go with one of my backups in Derrick Ward or Jamal Lewis?

(My league has a fee for every transaction, so I don't relish picking up Bell if I'm only going to use him once, unless it REALLY makes that much of a difference.)

Not worth it.

In that case, I'd go with Ward. Bell has good upside, but it's only for one week, and Thomas sitting out won't make Bush disappear.

Darren McFadden (SD) or Julius Jones (STL)?

Julius Jones, Felix Jones, or Mike Bell PPR league? I would go with Julius but FO has STL D much improved this year.

I've drunk the KUBIAK - Julius Jones Kool-aid.

Here's a fun one:

0.5 PPR, plus 1 per 25 yards returns

RB/WR Flex

LenDale White (causing it's Pitt)
Jerious Norwood (iffy injury)
LeSean McCoy
Laurence Maroney (garbage time yards?)
Davone Bess (cause the ATL secondary sucks)
Johnnie Lee Higgins (cause OAK should be doing a lot of returns against SD)
