Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
asomugha got beat in the first series for a big pass-interference penalty. way to not earn your rep on a primetime game.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The worst part was the it was still caught by the receiver. Sad, sad times.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Remember, these two teams came into this game seperated by only one win. Who was in coverage, anyway?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Why can't we play the Raiders every week.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I can't wait to see how the playoffs shake out today.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Despite the opponent being the Lions, and the Vikings not having suspensions, I still get nervous over games like this. Its in the Vikings history to blow games like this (e.g., vs Green Bay in 1988, which cost the Vikes (11-5) the division title, Green Bay was 4-12 that year with half those wins vs Minnesota).
The game opens with a one yard Peterson run, then the Lions call timeout on prior to the second snap.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Good to see that the Eagles D is already self-destructing with 2 penalties on the first drive of the game, although good forcing of the 12-yard loss on the end around.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And a Vikings drive ends with another Frerotte sack. Last time the played the Lions were all over him, looks like they picked right back up. None of the gaping holes they had vs the Titans were evident on that first drive.
Kluwe comes in and again can't catch a break. He nails a punt to about the 2, it bounces straight up and holds there, and the first viking down toes the goal line as he hits it back, touchback.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Culpepper avoids 3 unblocked rushers, loops around and makes a huge 30 yard completion.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Sigh, the Lions marching right down the field on the Vikings. Wonder how much of a distraction that court thing was.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Gah! Don't run trick plays! Gah!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Vikings defensive line called for 3 offsides on first drive. Last one gave Detroit first and goal.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
To their credit, Eagles D is doing a great job right now of limiting the damage from the Giants run game.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And Frerotte promptly throws an interception. The Lions have now three interceptions all year. Two of them on Frerotte. You can just feel the Vikings are going to lay a huge egg here....
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Vikings commit a fourth offsides, this one wiping out an interception. They are not ready to play.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The offensive playcalling of the Eagles continues to baffle me.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I can imagine Andy Reid is saying "you want me to run, fans? Okay, we'll run!"
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Wow, that was a nice throw by Eli- he practically gifted an INT there but got away with it.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That was the worst attempt at an end around I've seen in awhile. Egads Eagles.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Holy Crap! Akers nails a 51-yd FG INTO THE WIND at the Meadowlands! Wow! Considering he's missed so many kicks at the Meadowlands recently, that's got to be huge for his confidence.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Lions drive down go red zone aided by numerous penalties, but end with a field goal. Vikings fortunate to be down only 6-0.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The "The Giants won't miss Plaxico at all" crowd just sat back down for awhile after that horrific drop by Hixon on a sure thing 85 yard touchdown pass.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Did I really just say the Eagles D was doing a good job of limiting the Giants run game?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I refuse to watch the Eagles unless and until they make the playoffs. That said, I'm learning I really hate "Caillou."
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That song just gets in your head like a brain worm, doesn't it?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
It's not that, it's that he's such a whiny little twerp. I want to slap him around until he toughens up.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Well, yeah, that goes without saying. *I* want to slap him and tell him to grow a set, and I'm a girl.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Saints' fans boo Deuce McAllister when he comes into the game.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
They're saying "Deeeeuuuuuuuce"
Or "Booo-urns"
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Hey, I didn't even see the game, it's six hours later, and I'm in my home office yelling "Boo-urns!" Just seems like the right thing to do.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
you don't watch NFL much do you?
(They always explain that the public yells 'deuce' and not 'boo')
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Mostly at bars where it's tough to hear the announcers, if the game even has volume.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Hoo baby! Eagles special teams block a Giants FG attempt! Score still 3-0 Eagles! I know this won't last, but I'm savoring it for now.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I could watch that replay all day.
Not often you see a blocker JUMP OVER the guards, then stand up to block the FG.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That was an incredible play by Trent Cole.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And Peterson fumbles second time in first half. Deja vu... might be overturned though.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Goster Cherilous took Jared Allen's knee out on a low hit way below the play. Looks bad. Allen was furious, had to be restrained going after the lions even while injured. A brawl broke out on the next play.
Jared Allen might be done for the year.
One of the lions was ejected.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Goster cherilous, who was on the ground, put his helmet right on Jared Allen's knee. Allen wsa pursuing the play about 15 yards away from the ball.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Vikings seem fired up anyway, and from that play with 3rd and 1, they stuff Lions twice and get the ball back on downs.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Whatever moementimum is thrown away as Frerotte comes right back out and throws another interception.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Cherilous should get done real bad..... that's complete crap. They should put a hit on him. Seriously.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Okay, where's this LJ Smith been hiding?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Oh, and Frerotte got hurt, being looked at.
This is just a nightmare game for the Vikings.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Jared Allen got a shot of something and insisted on going back out there...
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
See ya!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Gus Frerotte carted off. Tarvaris Jackson warming up.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Lions once again go for it on 4th down from the 5, and 4th and inches try to sneak Culpepper right at Pat Williams. Not even close.
Tarvaris jackson comes out and takes a knee. Halftime, Detroit 6, Minnesota 3.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And the Eagles, as always, make me regret turning on the game.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory - is that a skill?
It figures that when Akers hits a 51yd FG in the Meadowlands in swirling winds AND the Eagles block a Giants FG that the Eagles ST jinx would have a nuclear option waiting to surprise the fans. That and the Eagles 2 minute drill demon.
Eagles 32yd FG is blocked, about 3 Eagles have a chance to tackle the recovering Giant and whiff, returned for TD by the Giants, end of Half.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Wait i'm just checking the score on my computer in the library, did the eagles really let the giants return a field goal for a td with under 10 seconds left.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Yes, and it's the second time it's happened THIS SEASON. This team doesn't need a new coach, it needs an exorcism.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
What's the record for most blocked FGs returned for TDs allowed in a season?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
What's the records for blocked FG in a GAME?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Did anybody notice that the clock stopped after that run by Westbrook at :21? Why? It stopped long before McNabb spiked the ball to stop it (again) after it was re-started.
Jacks RULE!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Vikings come out fired up in second half. Culpepper fumbles inside the 5 but Lions recover, and get off a 65 yard punt. Vikigns march down behind Peterson and Taylor. Tarvaris did get one first down on a throw, too.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Further self-destruction, Vikings get a 3-and out with a sack, but are called for a penalty. On the next play Culpepper hits Calvin Johnson for a 70 yard TD.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
FIRE SEGRIST. NOW. Make his as walk back to Philadelphia.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The Eagles are really putting on a clinic on how to dominate a game without building a huge lead.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Yeah, I'm wondering where the hell this team has been all season, and when the wheels are going to fall off the bus.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
They've somehow, at least for today, converted themselves into a team that is willing and able to grind it out. If not for the damned FG team, I'd be able to relax.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Its been the same team all season, you guys just love to complain...
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Some really terrible officiating/commentating today as usual.
Gumball thinking that little dump to the Jags RB in the left flat as being complete was classic.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Westbrook 165 yards. Giants 115 yards.
Wow.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
WOOOOO! TD Westbrook!
Is there any way the Eagles could clone him for when he can't play anymore? His importance to this team just can't be overstated.
Westbrook is now Eagles all time leader in yards from scrimmage.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGH. Dawk sitting under a duck by Manning only to have Samuel knock it away. Who has more INTs dropped, Romo or Manning?
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I know! Dawk had his eye on that thing the whole way and Samuel had to jump in front of him. Damn it.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That spot was terrible
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Eli Manning has resumed his Deer in the Headlights expression/play.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
So has the "Eli Manning for MVP" bandwagon a) hit a telephone pole, b) hit a tree, or c) been driven into a lake today? Of course, if the Giants come back to win, we'll hear all about how Eli is a winner and his craptacular day will be forgotten.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I'd say a tree.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I don't know about MVP talk, and I was watching while working out so I didn't see the whole game, but his receivers had two really bad/crucial drops that could have changed things considerably: Hixon dropped a sure bomb TD, and I'm not sure who it was but a receiver dropped a perfectly thrown 3rd down pass which would have kept either the first or second Giants drive of the 2nd half alive. I don't care about MVP, but I did notice that those two passes could have changed things quite a bit.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Mobile Matt Ryan for a rushing TD.
wow.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Seriously, who is this LJ Smith and where has he been hiding for the last several years? Did aliens take over his body?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
What's the expression about blind critters and acorns ?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Not familiar with that one...
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Where has this team been all year? Good with the run, good on third down, good in short yardage, no turnovers, solid rush defense, McNabb running successfully. They’re trying to kill us. That’s the only thing that makes any sense.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Just an random hypothesis, but I think this is the same Eagles team you have been seeing all year (which is a good team that has had some bad luck).
Today maybe they go 8 or 11 or third down or something instead of 6 of 11 (just an example, havent watched that game so dont know what their performance has been on 3rd down), and suddenly they go from "OMG they are so horrible I cannot watch them and want to fire andy reid and burn Mcnabb alive", to "wow if they played like this all year they would be 9-3 and i would be talking about westbrook for MVP and wear green every sunday".
Except they have played like this all year. It is the exact same team. Football is very random and a very small number of plays can make a huge difference in the outcome, particularly in games where the margin of victory is less than 7.
Killing yourself over a win here and a win there is really silly, you might as well kill yourself over die rolls or lottery numbers. What you should care about is that they play better than 8 of every 10 other teams and in the league. That is what is an indicator of success.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
ATL kickoff coverage = terrible failure.
Reggie Bush gets away with spiking the ball OOB after a play.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
WHen is NO going to learn that Bush is not a running back. I have been watching snipets of that game here and there and almost every time it is an unsuccessful play it is a run to Bush (failed 2pt conversion, no gain on 2nd and 4 etc.)
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
ATL LB #59 has just surpassed Ike Taylor for "Worst hands in NFL history with a critical game winning INT on the line"
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
In other news, it's windy at the Meadowlands today.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Wow, that was some great effort by Pierre Thomas.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Gah, stupid PI penalty on Toastolio Hanson. Sheesh.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Why? WHY? Must they make me sweat every damned win?
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Yes, they must. It's the Eagles. Dude, haven't you learned by now?
Can't wait for the Steelers v. Dallas. Should be a great game - looking forward to watching the Steelers D slap them around. My brother hates the Steelers (why, I'm not sure) but as he told me, "I would root for Satan himself against the Cowboys."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Not possible. Satan is the Cowboys' owner.
Are you going to the meet-up at Chickie's and Pete's next week? You're single woman now; gotta start making all those drunken mistakes you've been avoiding the past few years.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Well, close enough to single...divorce is final in January. But that's no reason to be stupid. ;-)
I haven't decided on the meet-up at Chickie and Pete's but it sounds like a lot of fun. Are you going?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Planning to. It's not far from the Nefarious Lair and it should be a good time if the Eagles are riding a three-game winning streak.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Tom Coughlin has that "I'm dangerously close to a stroke" look.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Oh, we are breaking out every single flavor of jam tonight! We are using flavors that don't even exist.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
If there are any flavours that are UK specific then I'd send you some after that win!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I'm sure there must be something. Peanut butter-and-corn, catfish, pork-and-strawberry. I'm convinced the British conquered the world only because they were searching for a good meal. Little known fact, the Hundred Years War started because the French wouldn't share a recipe for coq au vin.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Man, I'm glad my CBS affiliate is showing us every second of Titans-Browns. No sense in switching over to Houston-GB or anything. Jackasses.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
With Houston coming into Lambeau and winning, I might have to change my "most disappointing team this year" vote from the Chargers to the Packers. Yeesh.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Captain Epps and the mighty Arians squad with a boring, predictable drive that stalls out and settle for an unmakable FG attempt
*2 thumbs down*
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Wow the Seahawks were just called for PI because they had the nerve to let Randy Moss keep pushing against the defender. Led to a Pats TD. About what we expect in this town this year. Seattle '08, catch the magic!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
No kidding. And, after the reffing in Randy Moss era, I don't want to EVER hear a Pats fan bitch about calls again. EVER.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The Eagles revamped their offense completely leading up to this game, give them credit for it.
The bigger question is, did the Eagles provide a blueprint to the rest of the NFL to stop the Giants or was New York just having their second bad game of the season.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
First the Giants, now the Cowboys are throwing on 4th-and-short. Keep on doin' what your doing, fellas.
"A little celery is always nice after a good pee."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Well here we go then. The Seahawks started out strong, but a few bad calls led to the rest of the team no longer playing to that extra level. It was fun for a while, but now the game is starting to slip away.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Apparently my rant energized Seattle as they stop the Pats at midfield.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I thought Steelers-Cowboys would be ugly.
But not this ugly.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I know that to some extent neutering Brett Favre is productive, but 14/18 and he's got a whole 100 yards passing? Yeesh. Are the 49ers just right on top of the YAC or something? 77% and barely 5 YPA... weird.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Seneca Wallace was about to be sacked for a 16 yard loss but somehow dumped it off to Branch who ran sideways and back the other way and sideways again and gained about 60 yards.
Being challenged now.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Play is upheld. First and goal Seattle!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Crap on toast, Dallas TD.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And then Branch made an INCREDIBLE one handed TD catch in the end zone.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
And that Seahawks drive, by the way, started on a fumbled kickoff return. It look like the Pats would recover but the ball was stripped away from the punter as he was diving on top of it.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Dallas D looks like the #1 D today. Not PIT.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I was so happy with the Choice pick. Oddly enough, that was the one that sold me on the Cowboy's draft. Now, he's proving me right to be pleased.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I know, right? Beast at Georgia Tech.
And he could have 200+ by himself against the "#1 defense."
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Horrible non-call on Roy Williams holding to break Choice's catch & run. Ten feet away from the sideline judge, Williams grabs the jersey and spins the defender to the backside and doesn't let go till Choice breaks contain.
Edit: As a side note, having not watched many Dallas games this year, I had no idea who Choice was & had to look him up. From what I've seen today, he doesn't look very quick, but has a great sense for how to run in space. He seems to be making all the right cuts and taking the tough 3 yards when that's all there is rather than doing the patented Reggie Bush-cutback-dance 10 yard loss while seeking the glory land. Great pickup by Dallas.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
More non-calls as Dallas grabs Heath Miller and knocks down Ward. Of course, the refs don't throw any flags. The penalties the Cowboys have been called for have been automatic ones (offsides, too many men) that the refs don't have to think about.
I wish I knew why Arians and Tomlin think that trying to run up the middle at the goal line is a good idea when they haven't been able to do that all season. If it hasn't worked through 12 games it's not going to work now.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Dallas D shows 'em who's boss once again. Great goal line stand.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Scoreboard!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Ah, there is the Seahawks collapse I was looking for.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Good god. How many times has Dallas done the 1st down draw play in this game?
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
At least it's better than the 2nd down Romo throwing a pick 6 to lose the game for them. Jesus. Someone put them out of their misery.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
God I Love the Steelers!!! How do they keep winning??
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I sent you Ben Roethlisberger, that's why. - God
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Most of the time, it's because the score more points than the other guy. But I haven't seen all their games.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Thank you, Cowboys. Thank you for dashing all of my hopes. You have dominated most of this half, but then you decide to lose in the last half of the fourth. I hope you all die.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The only reason this game was close was Ben R's mind bogglingly bad performance in the first 3 quarters. There were times he had the ball more than TEN SECONDS before eating a sack. I've almost never seen anything like it - perhaps it was so cold the ball froze to his hand.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Hoo baby, pick 6 returned for TD! Woo hoo Steelers!
The Eagles win, the Giants and Cowboys (most likely) lose...all that I need to make this day complete is for the Redskins to lose to Baltimore.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
(By definition, a "pick 6" is an interception returned for a TD)
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Thank you...I apologize, was caught up in the elation of the moment. :-)
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I would have, too, if not for the fact that I actually root for that piece of crap team!!!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
hahahahahahahahahaha
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The Steelers would certainly appreciate it if the Redskins could repay the favor that the Steelers just did the Ravens (and the entire NFC). Whoo boy. I can't take too many more wins like that.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The silence of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman after the Tony 'uh oh' Romo interception return for TD by Townsend was the most beautiful silence I've heard in a long time.
Now go put your fist somewhere else.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I did notice that. lol I have to say that I was stunned as well though.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I think Aikman turned off the mikes and yelled at Buck what went wrong. Smashed a door, yelled something random at a temp and turned the mikes back on.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Incredibly tough loss for the Boys. The game was essentially over and they still managed to lose it. Tony had a bad 4th quarter, but anyone who thinks he crumbles under pressure is just a product of the media. He has his share of clunkers, but he also has quite a few great game-winning drives.
Overall, I still say that the Dallas D outplayed the Steelers D. This loss falls squarely on the offense. Witten had a really poor game, which was very frustrating.
NYG will be huge next week. Not a must-win game, but incredibly close to one. Let's see if Dallas has learned that closing games out is necessary. I picked Dallas this week and will still maintain that they will beat the Giants next week.
As long as the half of the team that got injured this week makes it back. Geeze!
Overall though, very entertaining game. Definitely one of the best of the year. Exciting to the very end. Even though the result has put me on the edge of a deep depression, it still was as good of a loss as anyone could hope for.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Owens: 1 fluke catch for TD.
Witten: not seen
Williams: not seen
Choise: played very well and had 150y vs 100 for the rest of the team at one point.
.
The defenses outplayed both offenses today, except when the steelers needed a few deep balls, they won. The cowboys couldn't get anything deep, so they lost when they had to.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Honestly, I feel as good as I possibly could about this loss. It sucks that the Boys lost, but come on. They got beat by one score against a top-notch team who was playing at home and in conditions they are built to dominate in. The Dallas defense showed that they are indeed legit and that barring prevent defense at the end, they can hold strong. Wade gets a lot of the blame on the Steelers' tying drive. Otherwise, the defense was outstanding.
The offense was pretty good. Romo's picks were tough, but in that wind and against a hell of a defense, I'll say it wasn't as horrible as the national media would like to make it out to be. Romo played well for the most part but the turnover battle was just too uneven. Dallas had a great sack day but no INTs. People can blame Ben all they want but he was careful with the football. Give him credit for that. Sacks are always better than picks.
I'm really looking forward to NYG/DAL next week. Should be just as good if not better than DAL/PIT was. Would've been nice to have gotten a win this week and then get a win next week (if they do, which I think they certainly can), but getting a win next week is almost as good. The Ravens are not unbeatable. If Dallas can lose by 7 to Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh in wind and cold, I think they can win at home against the Ravens. If Dallas can get these next two, then the season could come down to how they fare in Philly.
Exciting stuff! All of these should be great games. Can't wait for them! I hope Dallas wins but if not a good game is always great to see (just as today's was).
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Actually why do you think that PIT is built to dominate in those conditions? I see PIT as a good weather team, they pass more than they run recently and they have a very speedy defense.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
very , very oversimplified look at DVOA stats below
coming into the game , head-head
pitt pass adv 9.00
pitt run adv 0.50
dall pass adv -12.90
dall run adv -10.70
.... In the end, Dall had about 300 yards, Pitt had about 275 yards. Difference was in turnovers really (as a lot of talking heads surprisingly predicted)-- if anything, Dallas O played better against pitt D than expected, if only in measured in (relatively meaningless) total yard.....
... yet the game wouldn't have been that close probably if Omar and BruceTard had any sort of non-predictable goal line playsets. Isn't that the 5th 4th-goal stuff for the Steelers this year inside the 3 ? Terrible.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Whoever is charting the Ravens/Redskins game can just cut and paste "Reason: Hit in Motion" for every play the Redskins throw the ball.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Golly Ed Reed is good.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
Hahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha romo.
HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!
ps fire bruce arians. How hard is it to call plays with a 3 step drop, seriously?!
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That's it.
I've seen Romo, Roethlisberger and Cambell seen outrun linebackers today. So, when you are a madden stat guy; please stop giving QBs defensive tackle speed stats. Morons.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
I hear you on that one. After seeing Chris Johnson's TD run today, I also feel that his 99 speed doesn't do him justice either. He just torched everyone with ease, and yet in Madden you can almost never do that.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
That's funny. Whats his SPD rating in Madden09?
I have Madden08 and the unofficial 08 draft class has Chris Johnson with 99 spd.
He's great, just like IRL.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
The problem with madden is very bad inflation so you cannot actually represent discrepancies in talent. When you give the 50th fastest player a 99 in speed and the 150th fastest player a 95 it does not leave you much room for discrimination. FoF was much better about this and a lot of teams starters would have ratings in the 20s-50s. That leaves you the ability to give someone like Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson an 80 and have them be someone truly special, instead of madden where everyone plays the same.
Re: Week 14 Open Discussion Thread
exactly what I told a friend yesterday when we were playing madden.
The stats go from 0-99, but in reality, the slowest guy is still 50.

WAAAHHHOOOO!!!!!
Realizing there's 3 weeks left, but I am enjoying tonight!
Oh, my homer-vision says the Panthers dropped 5 INT's and had two fumbles whistled dead while the Bucs had circus catches for both INT's and also the TD.
(Note: homer-vision does not detect passes dropped by Dunn or the Bucs WR's).
Not sure what to take from today, but 10-3 sounds pretty good.
Re: WAAAHHHOOOO!!!!!
Only one post about that game...? I thought it was an overall pretty good one, my obvious biases aside.
Watching Otah destroy defenders in the 4th quarter was beautiful.
