First, I can't pick up another QB due to league rules. Second, I only have this backup due to a trade for a LB since both of mine got hurt week 1 (and I gave up Shawn Hill, so he wouldn't have helped anyway this week).
Do I start Tom Brady or JaMarcus Russell?
For anyone who may not have paid attention, this is NE's bye. It came close to costing me last week when I played Russell over Garrard due to bye (this same 2QB league). Do I gamble that he gets enough yardage to counter his turnovers, or go with the guaranteed non-negative?
(How bad does a QB have to be to warrant this question?)

Re: Week 8 QB start/sit decision - both funny and serious
Yikes.
In answer to your second question, I'll say, he has to be just about as bad as JaMarcus Russell.
As for who to start: At least under my league's scoring system, Russell has only put up negatives against the New York teams, which both have top-10 pass Ds by DVOA. San Diego, despite its reputation, does not have a great pass D this season. They have been pretty good in points allowed to fantasy QBs, but that's a combination of a) lousy rush D and b) games against Russell, Cassell, and the Miami Chads. Long story short, the probability of Russell putting up a negative is slim. Start him.
Re: Week 8 QB start/sit decision - both funny and serious
Russell has Zach Miller and it's San Diego, so Russell should be fine (where "fine" is defined as "posting a positive number") this week. Besides, Oakland got up for the last San Diego game, so they should show up for this one too... right?

I'm going to say go with Russell. Fortune favors the brave, right?
