In a surprise move (at least to the media :), the Patriots have cut backup QB and former 3rd-rounder Kevin O'Connell.
Normally, who cares (aside from it being yet another high-ish recent draft choice that the Pats have given up on).
But the Brady injury adds intrigue.
I can see it both ways:
"Brady'll be fine by the opener, but KOC isn't doing it for us, and since Brady will be fine, let's start looking for a replacement backup."
or
"Oh shit. This isn't good. We have to get a real backup NOW!"

Re: What does the Kevin O'Connell cut mean re: Brady's shoulder?
The Broncos or Chiefs will have a new third string QB.
This was a very curious move in my opinion, but I think it is reasonably good news for Brady's status.
