In the process of finding players to add to our master database and/or clarifying their history in the NFL and assorted minor leagues, one of the places me and Aaron do occasionally turn to is that bastion of accuracy, Wikipedia.
Of course, Wikipedia can be a source of fun all by itself. Yesterday, Aaron discovered one of the players that were missing from our database: Former Buccaneers third-round pick Marquise Walker, who never played in an NFL game.
Walker's career isn't interesting, but what's amusing is his absurdly long Wikipedia entry.
With that in mind, I provide you, the reader, a challenge: Find as long or longer of a Wikipedia entry for a more obscure football player than Walker.

Re: Wikipedia Excess
Not quite as egregious, but definitely in the 'I edit my own wikipedia page' crowd.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syd'Quan_Thompson
"some projections call for him to be selected in the first or second round of the 2010 NFL Draft."
can you say 'citation needed'?
Re: Wikipedia Excess
From the Sacramento Bee, about a month ago, a claim that he's a second or third round pick.
He won't go that high, since he had a bad combine since then. But given that the last edit of the page was in January, I doubt he's editted his page at all.
Re: Wikipedia Excess
Projections done by himself, his best friend and his mother, so technically, he's not lying.

Re: Wikipedia Excess
That first article is awesome. I've always wanted to know who was the 1000th person in line for the English Throne.
Re: Wikipedia Excess
I'm usually too busy arguing with my kids who is next in line for the throne at my house!
My line of reasoning is usually this: I got the Sunday Times, I got the Sports Section, ergo, I am next in line. Win percentage: 65%.
Good lord, the ridiculously gratuitous Kournikova shots are a riot.
Re: Wikipedia Excess
Not quite what you were after, but here's an obscure player who should have his own substantial wikipedia page: Greg Smith (possibly Philadelphia Eagles?):

Re: Wikipedia Excess
The odd thing about the Walker entry is how much it mentions his arrests and legal problems; I'd have to think if he was editing his own entry, that stuff would be glossed over a bit more. Same if it was his mother. So I guess I'd wonder who the heck would be doing the entries then . . .
Re: Wikipedia Excess
not quite obscure enough given the last name, but entry length relative to NFL accomplishment...definitely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Vick
Re: Wikipedia Excess
How about a player who played one year in college and the NFL combined.

Re: Wikipedia Excess
At least he had some interesting NFL/legal issues surrounding his failure (in addition to al the good on-field and bad off-field stuff). It was educational for me to follow the broken paths of him and the Williams WR from USC (as opposed to the Williams WR from UW) as they tried to jump to the NFL early and were foiled, then couldn't return to NCAA, then, well, kept Mel Kiper from publicly soiling his pants while saying "CAN'T MISS PROSPECT" at full volume.
Re: Wikipedia Excess
This is not quite a wiki but a two page New York Times article written about a player who only true draft geeks know about should suffice.

Re: Wikipedia Excess
Most of these articles should be deleted as per Wikipedia policy. If I really cared I would flag them, but there are more famous people (particularly pioneers of internet memes) who are not allowed as entries.

I agree--RaiderJoe should CERTAINLY have his own Wiki page
Re: Wikipedia Excess
What unbiased objective thing there is to say about him?
"Talks in bad grammar and has a firm grip of football history and has a blind spot for the Raiders.
Quotes include "...and some others", "x is bad player never reached [obscure fact] [obscure player] is better because [obvious overlooked fact], will not look stas up had too many Sierra Nevadas" and "Raiders will win super bwol next year heard it here frist."
Wikis almost write themselves.
