Normally I would search for this to see if it has been posted before but since the search function is broken excuse me if it has been discussed before.
Just curious if yards after contact for running backs is tracked and if so how come it isn't in the FOA. Yards after catch is listed for receivers in the bible but not yards after contact for running backs.
If it isn't tracked here is there anywhere I might be able to find it?

Re: Yards after contact
I'm not sure, but I don't think that is tracked by FO. I doubt anyone else does it.
Re: Yards after contact
We experimented with it while charting games in last year's playoffs. I don't know if we plan on doing it this year, but I can tell you that trying to determine exactly where contact occurred is VERY hard to do and open to a ton of subjectivity.
Re: Yards after contact
Make it "Yards After SIGNIFICANT Contact" and your job will be easier. Should it really count as contact if a defensive player swipes at the ball carrier and barely brushes his jersey? If it isn't obvious that the ball carrier was contacted -- and affected by the contact -- then don't count it.
Also, I'd really like to see this tracked for defensive players -- I want them to feel even a modicum of shame when they ESCORT the ball carrier for ten or fifteen yards while swatting at the ball instead of going for the tackle.
Re: Yards after contact
How do you want them to feel when they strip the ball swiping at it?
Risk/Reward.
Re: Yards after contact
no well from my point of view its not tracked by foA.
