The New England Patriots have finally moved into the No. 1 spot in weighted DVOA this week. Also: Looking at how recent Denver wins are driven by defense instead of offense, and a Pittsburgh team that is very un-Steelers-like.

Very few units are historically good in 2014, but the Lions run defense is threatening to surpass the 2000 Ravens. And right behind Detroit is Denver -- still the No. 1 team in overall DVOA.

New England keeps inching closer to No. 1 Denver in our weighted DVOA ratings, and Green Bay keeps inching away from the rest of the NFC.

Denver remains No. 1 in the Football Outsiders DVOA ratings, but New England moves up to No. 2 and has taken over as our Super Bowl favorite.

Denver is still No. 1, but as the weakest first-place team in DVOA history. Tampa Bay is almost the strongest last-place team in DVOA history. And Arizona is still inexplicably No. 15 at 9-1. Ball of confusion: that's what DVOA is today. Hey hey.

Now that we have ten weeks of data to work with, even big wins only lead to small moves in the DVOA rankings. Plus: Why schedule strength so far helps both Andrew Luck and Marshawn Lynch make their MVP cases.

Miami makes a big move up to No. 3 with the strongest single-game DVOA of the year, just one of many teams where FO stats and conventional wisdom disagree in 2014.

Five teams in the NFL are 6-1 or 6-2. One of those teams, Denver, ranks among the best teams we've ever tracked. None of the other four teams even rank in the DVOA top ten right now. Why not?

Denver: great team, or the greatest team? Would you be satisfied with "one of the ten greatest teams?" Plus: hard times in the NFC South, where defense goes to die.

Why is John Harbaugh so happy? His math-lovin' left guard just told him how much the numbers love the Ravens this year. But why aren't the numbers as excited as the public when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys?
