PFLAG Honors Paul Tagliabue

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays has saluted NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and his wife with its 2005 Stay Close award. Tagliabue, whose son, Drew, is gay, has supported the organization financially. New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft, former NFL player Esera Tuaolo, and former high school football player Corey Johnson all attended the awards ceremony.

As an admittedly biased gay male, kudos to Mr. Tagliabue for his support of PFLAG, a fine organization that serves its purpose very well.

Drew Tagliabue was a senior in college when I was a freshman; I interned under him at the radio station, where he taught me how to work the turntables. Good guy.

Very interesting, particularly the stuff about the NFL otherwise not being particularly sensitive to gay issues. My wife always laughs when I claim that football contains no homoerotic undertones.
