I guess this is what happens when you sign an incentive-laden contract that includes no guaranteed money and then get cut in training camp.

And you thought that movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" didn't look realistic.
In Other News: Clarett Accused Of Robbing Broncos Of Valuable Draft Pick
However, he did save another team. According to ESPN, he was due to sign with another NFL team on Monday, and was probably going to be allocated to NFL Europe. They didn't name the team, just cited one of his agents.
its players like this that make you wish cracksmoker.com was still up and running. (click my name)
I have only one question about this whole Clarett thing - how did he not become a 'Cane?
If Clarett is trying to wrest the title of Most Dispicable Person Ever to be Associated with the NFL (MDPEAN) from Leonard Little, well, he's gonna have to come a lot stronger than this.
#3: Probably the Ravens. This sort of thing is mandatory for them.
I'm guessing it's because he couldn't rap well enough. There's no truth to the rumor that there's a rule that football players can't go to the "U" unless you can rap as well as the guys in the 7th floor crew.
What about Lawrence Phillips?
The MDPEAN has to be Rae Carruth. It's hard to get more despicable than a person who arranged to have your pregnant "sex partner" killed after she refused to get an abortion.
Well, as long as no-one nominates Nate Newton - you have to respect a guy who drives around with that much weed in his van (he was actually caught with 175 pounds while out on bond after being arrested with the famous 213 pounds.) Another college player from the state of Florida, God forgive us, though only FAMU...
Yep, Rae and Orenthal have pretty much retired the award.
Maybe not as despicable as self destructive. Most self-destructive of all time:
1.) Art Schlister
2.) Maurice Clarett
3.) Lawrence Phillips
You could argue for adding Alonza Spellman for a full Buckeye sweep - where do they get these guys? Terry Glenn, Dan "punch my pregnant girlfriend in the stomach" Wilkinson, Andy "Summer School" Katzenmoyer.
The unanswerable question for alternative history buffs: What would have happened had Clarett been able to declare himself eligible for the 2003 NFL draft? Would he have been successful in the NFL? Did the two years he sat out diminish his football skills, or was he never an NFL-caliber player? Would an NFL salary and lifestyle have provided stability in his life, or was Clarett doomed from the get-go?
Interesting, though not perfect, corrollary: The same year that Clarett scored the winning TD in the national championship game, freshman Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to the NCAA basketball title. With the encouragement of his coach, he entered the NBA draft. In the two-plus years since, Anthony has had similar off-the-court problems, most notably an appearance in a "Stop Snitching" video meant to deter witnesses against drug dealers, but has continued to excel professionally, averaging over 20 points per game. Would Anthony have wound up like Clarett had he sat out the last two years?
Ray Lewis can't get a little MDPEAN action?
Ray-Ray only obstructed of justice. was it the Raider lineman Robbins who was juiced up and beat the hell out of 3 cops before getting shot in the stomach?
I think this is what happens when you get seriously drunk and let your delusions of entitlement overwhelm what passes for your common sense.
And by "you" I mean the idiot with the gun. I can't believe Jim Brown tried to vouch for this guy.
It was just reported that Clarett turned himself in a little after 9 p.m. That would be right after the Fiesta Bowl ended. This would have been his senior year (had he stayed) and after Ted Ginn's performance, I hope they have him on suicide watch.
The Vikings need offensive line help, while the Bears, Lions, and Packers have significant defensive concerns.
