Herm Gets FOX to Change the (Darn) Name

Herm, you rule. Jeffrey Flanagan of the Kansas City Star reports that "You may know the story about how Herm Edwards has been reluctant to appear on Fox Sports Net’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period, mainly because he objects to the word 'damn' ... Edwards will tape a segment on the show on Oct. 30 via satellite from Kansas City. It will be a special one-time show renamed 'Best Darn Sports Show Period.'

"'We were willing to do anything to get Herm on the show, including renaming it,' said the show’s host, Chris Rose. 'Herm is such a good interview and we’ve been wanting to get him on so long. We can’t wait.'"

Neither can we, especially This Week in Quotes czar Ben Riley, who might be able to get an entire column out of this when it airs.

Wow. You gotta give it up for a guy who is that devoted to his principles.

What would be even better: someone rightfully objecting to the word "Best" in the name of the show. The show should be called "Worst Damn Sports Show Period" or "Lamest Damn Sports Show Period."

This country is being shaken to its very foundations by the d-word.

Are you talking about Herm or Raiderjoe?

“Herm is arguably the best sound bite ever, Rose said. “I’m serious. Because when you ask him a question, he really takes the time to answer it. It’s not just coach talk or just football talk. It’s sincere. And we love that, which is why we he’s had this open invitation to be on anytime.

We get it, he makes funny quotes. I still won't watch.

I have problems with both "show" and "period", but especially the missing comma. Do they mean "sports show period" as in history period?

Or is it the best sports show menstruation? That about describes the show's quality.

Trogdor hit the nail on the head. Period.

I find it hard to imagine what could possibly keep this show going.

I mean, it isn't like they don't have other material they could show during that time slot. Like, say, more of Summer Sanders.
