In his weekly column for SI.com, Will Carroll looks at the ramifications of a very busy opening weekend for trainers, doctors and general managers. Have we ever seen a Week 1 so damaging to NFL rosters?

Brett Favre is the IRONMAN!
Any thoughts on D.J. Hackett's injury?
I'm waiting to see if Belicheck is out with a separated camera.
#3, I think the official report would look something like this: Bellichick, questionable (camcorder)
My schadenfreude meter is red-lined and I am tired of this story already. Plus, it gets in the way of reading about interesting NFL-related stuff, like McNair's groin and Ogden's toe....
#1 - Techincally, Jeff Feagles is the ironman.
If you don't want a punter, then Favre still hasn't passed Jim Marshall either, no matter how many times you hear it said as gospel that he is the NFL ironman without the "quarterback" qualifier...
I too tire of "Tape-gate," and long for the simpler days of Michael Vick's legal troubles.
Re: 2 Hackett's got the dreaded high ankle sprain. 3-4 weeks for sure, maybe more.
Re:4 Bobman, As always, you are a class act. If it were some rival that had embarrassed themselves
my schadenfreude wallowing would just be starting.
what am I, chopped liver?
actually, there's no 'H' in my name, dang it!
The story isn't quite so clear with DE Osi Umenyiora. He was out of practice on Wednesday, though all my sources expect him to play on Sunday.
I follow the Giants pretty closely, and this is the first place I've heard anything about Umenyiora being ready to play anytime this month. He's currently listed as "Doubtful" but everything I've read from people who've talked to him or Giants staff has said that his knee will cost him at least 3 weeks. I'm skeptical.
Anyone know which shoulder it is on Maroney? Did anyone see whether he was stiff-arming with that side?
Honestly, I like the guy, but I think he's one of those "I'm quicker than everyone so I can dance behind the line of scrimmage and still make positive yardage" backs. Guys who are athletically gifted in college sometimes end up that way in the NFL, and quickly learn to hit their holes or go down because the rest of the NFL is that fast, too (Reggie Bush set a great example of this against the Colts last week). If Maroney's shoulder is still a big problem, however, maybe my criticism isn't warranted, and he's just doing the best he can to get set up.
Hey, Maroney isn't even on the injury list - not even as probable. Link in my name.
