Man, will it be fun when Ted Ginn gets a big contract. Jeff Faine gets $37.5 million over six years from the Buccaneers, including $15 million in guaranteed money.

can we have put a moratorium on busting on Ted Ginn? Please?
re: 1
No.
A Ginnormous contract? Did I just ruin the joke? Dammit!
I don't get the joke, but I heard Ted Ginn is a flashy kick returner.
Yeah, we should save the bust jokes for players who actually are proven busts, not 2nd year WRs. Right now, Troy Williamson is a much better target for jokes than Ginn. Even Eli is a much better target at this point for crying out loud.
I mean, people who actually watch the games know the guy was open deep half the time.
I agree about Ginn, he must be a bust since we all know good wrs are always dominant in their rookie seasons and never take time to develop. Also with such a dynamic qb on the team I can;t understand why make the pro bowl
the fact is that Ginn was drafted so early that he's basically a guaranteed bust. I mean, what would he have to do to justify the choice?
Again as much money as Flozell for Jeff Faine??? What is wrong with free agency?
The tagline isn't calling Ginn a bust. It's making fun of his name, as #3 pointed out.
Drafting Ginn with the #9 pick was SHanahanesque, in that it was similar to many of the early round reaches that the 'mastermind' has made.
Ginn was selected @ least 10 spots too early. IMO calling Ginn a bust is more a 'dis' on the Dolphins than a 'dis' on Ginn. Considering the needs the Dolphins had everywhere else and the fact that they let go of two solid wrs through trades(CHambers and Welker) further highlights this folly.
As some guys pointed out earlier, this is not really making fun of Ginn, but since the subject has been brought up...
I thought passing on Quinn and taking Ginn was a terrible idea, but I'm not going to bust the kids chops too bad just yet. He didn't do all that well as a rookie, but seriously, how could he? As terrible as a situation he was in, anyone would have struggled. It may very well be a different story once he actually matures and gets a decent offense around him.
As for the "bust" label, it looks unlikely he'll ever be a true "bust." After all, despite being an undeveloped rookie in about the worst possible situation imaginable, he still grabbed 34 passes for 420 yards, 2 touchdowns, and contributed a lot in the return game, too. He'll probably improve from there a fair amount as he matures and the Dolphins improve. At the very least, you can do far worse than that (see Troy Williamson), so he's not a true "bust," per se.
However, the argument Some Dude puts forth in #7 has some validity to it. Ginn will always be the guy who the Dolphins reached big-time for, and Quinn will always be the "what could have been." Unless he turns into a true star, he'll probably be applied the "bust" label, particularly if Quinn turns into a good quarterback. I'm not saying that is fair, I'm not saying that is right, and I'm not saying that is how it should be looked at, but that's pretty much how it goes. He probably won't be a trust "bust," but the circumstances regarding his selection will likely have him tagged as a bust unless he turns into a star.
Meh. The Bucs needed a new center, and it was important to find one with experience. The rest of the line is young and promising, and if they want to contend this year it's better to do it with a center who's not learning on the job.
So why is this so negative? I was under the impression that he was pretty good. I heard he's great with the line calls and is a pretty good pass protector, though he doesn't play the run very aggressively. Is that accurate? Is he considered a bust because he can't stay healthy, or is he just plain bad?
#7 - Well, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams and Braylon Edwards were all drafted higher than that, and they seem to be regarded as good picks in hindsight. Not that I think Ginn will, but . . .
