Panthers Waive DeShaun Foster

DeShaun Foster's been waived by the Panthers, who will now seemingly make DeAngelo Williams their featured back. Initial guess on Foster's landing point: Houston, where he'd split time with Ahman Green.

Panthers I bet are going RB in the either the 1st or 2nd round. They want a bigger RB on the team as well-I can see Mendenhall or Forte.

I don't understand what took them so long.

I'll always love Foster for the Philly touchdown run in the Panthers Superbowl season. But, his cap room was wasted on a series of 800 yard campaigns. I just hope the Panthers don't do something misguided and sign Turner or Jones.

Houston Texans anyone?

No DeShaun Foster, no "He Hate Me", what are the Panthers coming to?

the bears really need to not go after him.

Good Lord, just what the Texans need, another 3.5 yards per carry running back prone to fumbling. Maybe they should pursue Kurt Warner and have a complete stone-hands backfield.

#6,

I was thinking the same thing. Angelo's cleared nearly $10mil in cap space. He's up to something. Media says it's Turner and Faneca.

I have to say, so far I've been pleasantly suprised with most of Carolina's moves.
I'm still skeptical they can really compete next year, but it's a start.

I really, really hope the Texans don't touch him with a barge pole. Give me Chris Taylor or Darius Walker any day. Hell, give me Ron Dayne.

Surely anyone can see that someone who dances in the backfield the way Foster does is totally unsuited to the Shanahan-Kubiak-Gibbs offense?

I would be surprised if Foster ever got another starting gig. I thought he was a serious reach coming out of UCLA and being a PAC10 watcher I had no faith in his prospects in the pros. The fact that he hung on this long in Carolina is more an indictment of their ability to draft RBs (see: Shelton, Eric) than his abilities.

Foster was so mediocre, he probably caused MJD to slide, for which the Jags are grateful.

The Carolina Panthers. Kings at making personnel moves - two years too late. I hear they might welcome themselves to the new century by signing one of them newfangled tight ends that can catch the ball too.

#13...

never. Wesley Walls is the only one we'll ever have. In fact, I'd bet they resigned Travelle Wharton just so they can get rid of the TE spot altogether and start going with 3 tackles on every play.

As a Panthers fan since day 1, the lack of... well, anything... at TE since Walls left constantly bothers me.
