Goodness. Two years ago, Derrick Dockery was one of many guards cashing in on the Steve Hutchinson Train when the Bills signed him to the seven-year, $49 million contract that was de rigueur at the time. But Dockery and tackle Jason Peters have both disappointed on the left side of the Bills line, and Buffalo has now given Dockery the boot.

The 2004 NFL Draft was supposed to be one of the deepest and best ever. Six years later, how does it look? Sean McCormick breaks down the draft, position by position.

Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
Whhaaaaa....?????
Was Dockery really so bad as ditch him? I didn't see it. What guards would they be looking for to fill the space?
If they don't cut Royal and Kelsay for the cap space, this would seem to be a weird move.
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
He's still serviceable and under 30, maybe a return to Washington?
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
As a Skins fan I really hope so. We need all the semi-competent linemen we can get.
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
I would take him back in a heartbeat.

Could this be who the Steelers were waiting for?
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
Rotoworld says the Bills are realizing more than 26 million dollars in cash savings by cutting Dockery. Nothing to sneeze at, especially for that team.
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
They also just cut FO's whipping boy, Robert Royal. Phew.
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
Rumor has it they cut him for alcohol problems. The team physician found him at a bar one day and asked what was in the glass. The response: "A hickory daquiri, doc."
Yes, I am a bad man and I will burn in hell for it.
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
Off-field rather than on-field issues? So this was a Dockery dickery dock?
Re: Bills Cut Derrick Dockery
You've gotta think that this cut will change a few mock drafts out there.
