We did a ton of media hits over the last few days on FOA09 that will be filtering out over the next several weeks. Instead of linking them one-by-one, I've linked today's crop below.
Over at the Chicago Sun-Times, Brad Biggs takes a look at our Bears chapter's discussion of the pass rush, and whether Tommie Harris is to blame.
Our Sean McCormick spoke with Brian Bassett of The Jets Blog about the Mark Sanchez issue and our expected injury-driven fall for their 2009 campaign.
Heading out West, Stephanie Stradley of the Houston Chronicle has the first in a series of questions and answers we did regarding the Texans chapter of this year's book; the first piece is on Dunta Robinson's charting numbers.
Finally, Dan Brown of the San Jose Mercury-News spoke to us regarding the Niners and our opinion that their 2009 will be dismal.

Who had the most Defeats in 2012? Well, nearly setting the all-time sack record puts you in a pretty good position to claim that crown.

Re: Today In FOA09 Media: Chicago, Houston, Jets, SF
Cool stuff. I haven't bought the Almanac yet, I want a hard copy.
I knew Alex Brown was our best DE, but I didn't realize how often he was just a step away from getting to the QB.
Alex Brown
Particularly because he plays RDE against better LOT.
Re: SF
All I have to say is, "Ouch."
I was watching some of the America's Game marathon from July 4th wknd on my DVR and it made me sad. The glory years of the 49ers are gone. As glorious as they were, they could have been better. 5-5 in Conf. Title games between 1981-1997. Now? They're being compared to the Lions?
Re: Today In FOA09 Media: Chicago, Houston, Jets, SF
In that last article, the Mercury one, we learn that apparently "Bill Barnwell...happens to root for the 49ers". Are you telling porkies to the media Bill? I thought the Giants were your spooning partner.
Re: Today In FOA09 Media: Chicago, Houston, Jets, SF
Maybe he's a fan of coaches without pants.
Re: Today In FOA09 Media: Chicago, Houston, Jets, SF
I "root" for them in the sense that I want to see them do well, since they've been very cooperative in sharing data with us. They are not my favorite team.

I agree with what you and the numbers say about Robinson's play last year: not good. That said, he was clearly not up to full speed after his ACL injury. I don't think it's outlandish to envisage his play improving considerably this year - or at least it wouldn't be, if he was actually going to turn up to camp.
As for the issue of who plays opposite Reeves if he doesn't, it's completely up in the air. One mid-round pick each from 2007, 2008 and 2009 is a candidate, in the form of Bennett, who was every bit as bad as the numbers suggest last season, Antwaun Molden, who reportedly looked good in camp last season and did a fine job on special teams when healthy, but didn't play much defense before landing on IR, and Glover Quin, who has great ball skills and was tbe talk of OTAs, but may not have the straight line speed to succeed on the outside. My guess is that Robinson won't be up to speed at the start of the season (and may even still be holding out), and that one of Bennett and Molden will start, with Quin beating the other out for the nickel position at which he will probably spend his entire pro career.
