After 13 seasons and six Pro Bowls, former Raiders/Saints/Cowboys/Rams defensive tackle La'Roi Glover has called it a career. Two things jump out at you on his Pro Football Reference page. First, the durability: Dude hasn't missed a game in 11 seasons, and missed only one the year before that. Second, the 17 sacks he had with the Saints in 2000 to lead the league -- and then never finishing in the top 10 sacks again. He's the Brady Anderson of pass rushers.

The Falcons and Bucs are still lacking edge rushers, the Saints need someone to protect Drew Brees, and the Panthers desperately need a second good wideout.

Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Brady Anderson is a dangerous name to throw around.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Long sideburns, short career.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Brady Anderson is just the Davey Johnson of his era.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Except Davey Johnson was at least partially helped by moving into the launching pad in Atlanta in '73 (26 HRs at home that season vs. 17 on the road).
Although I will agree that it's not like similar spikes in production haven't been seen in baseball before steroids. (Then again, Davey Johnson hit 43 HRs at the same time most of the Steeler organization was juicing up).

And 25 other teams.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Yea, but they were winning so it gets thrown out there more. In any case, the point stands.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Best-looking DT in football, baby!
Enjoyed his time with the Cowboys, he always seemed to play hard, even when surrounded by some lackluster line-mates.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
never really had chance eiyth Raiders but make good carrere with saints
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
He got the US Open in the bag, and now can retire in peace.
(not my joke, picked up on fark.com)
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
Good luck, La'Roi. He was always one of my favorite players when he played with the Cowboys.
Re: La'Roi Glover Retires
The reason he had 17 sacks from the DT position was because he was next to double digit sacker Joe Johnson. He was getting single blocking a lot in the middle. The reason he never hit double digits again was because (IIRC) Johnson left after that year (or maybe one more) and started getting more double teams. Also, IIRC, that was the year the Saints won the division and beat the Rams for their first ever playoff win. In other words, winning games means leads means the other team passes more means more sack opportunities for your defense.
