Marvel Comics Blows Up Soldier Field

Marvel Comics opens its latest big comic book crossover spectacle, "The Seige," with a bunch of supervillains blowing up Soldier Field during a Bears game. Even worse, Jay Cutler gets picked off by Batroc the Leaper five times before the explosion. That just adds insult to injury. And where is NFL SuperPro when the world needs him most?

Well, now that they've landed a space ship on the place, they should blow it up.

Yeah, when I read the headline, I wondered if the spaceship had taken back off...

I thought SuperPro was in Hell or something lately(something about Kickers, Inc). And Batroc? That's just low.

Obligatory ROBO-PUNTER comment.

I always wondered if he had Stilt-Man-like legs.

They couldn't have gone to Dallas to blow up Jerruhsalem?

Hail Hydra!

I would say the same of the Linc, but I guess they have to pick a team with some cultural significance.

Ooh, zing! I hope you enjoy all those football-free Sundays next month. No point in blowing up the stadium while the team is collapsing.

Hail Hydra!

agreed, but thanks for namedropping my all-time favorite silly villain. God how I wish I never sold off my comic book collection.

NFL SuperPro? Bah. This sounds like a situation for Riley Covington!

Dang. I think I had the entire run of SuperPro comics when I was a kid. They were not the greatest comics on earth but I've read worse.

Maybe the Bears could sign Bullseye as part of the rebuilding effort. Trade one jerk of a QB for another, except this one would be accurate.

Lemme guess......Orlando Pace's assignment is to thwart the supervillains....

Just one more blow to us Bears fans who also love comics...

Oh, and what's a 'Seige'? :P

Was Riley Covington involved in any way, shape, or form?

Jason Elam saw this coming.

Ah, Marvel. You make me so glad I stopped reading comics years ago.

Silly villains. Their quest is hopeless. QB Vikings will simply rise again with a new name and new powers.

Good thing it isn't DC -- the only thing worse than Pace's play would be Pace as an intergalactic zombie...

Then, again, he kind of blocks like one anyway....
