Roy Williams in 16 games since being traded to Cowboys: 33 catches, 447 yards, three touchdowns
Miles Austin in the last three games: 21 catches, 482 yards, five touchdowns.
In the story, Williams claims that all the passes thrown his way are inaccurate, while those thrown to Austin are always precise. This is a fascinating case of a man in denial.

Minor weaknesses dot these teams. Except for Arizona, which needs to bring in more help to really run Bruce Arians' offense.

Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Well, you can't say he's not doing a fantastic job replacing T.O.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Perhaps he should hook up with JaMarcus Russell? A match made in heaven.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Wouldn't that only work if Jamarcus tried to miss him?
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
JaMarcus Russell doesn't have to try to miss a receiver. It comes naturally.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Maybe he'd make Williams feel more appreciated by missing him less then the other guys.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
I saw the press conference (more of a media session) where he said this, and I think he's been taken out of context.
He was mostly talking about how excited he was that the team was winning and was laughing when he said that he has to jump/stretch for all the balls that get thrown his way.
Edit: Not that he didn't also say some ridiculous things.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
I agree, Temo. The quotes look bad in print, but if you see the whole session, including the questions, he is not being the self-promoting, in-denial diva he seems like in the print stories. Some poorly chosen words, yes, but this is not a locker room problem.
I am not, however, defending him as a receiver.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Roy, speaking as a Lions fan, you look more like Number 2 to me, if you know what I mean.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Roy's catch % by year (and with various QBs):
2004: 45.8%
2005: 47.9%
2006: 54.3%
2007: 60.6%
2008: 43.9%
2009: 37.8%
It's not Romo, Roy.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Fascinating--his two best years were the two full years in which he was being thrown to by Jon Kitna. Tony Romo better watch his ass, lest he become the Nancy Kerrigan to Williams and Kitna's Harding and Gillooly.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
That looks like it IS Romo to me. 57% or so from Kitna. 50% from Harrington? And then a 20% drop immediately when he went to the Cowboys.
Was TO's catch percentage lower with the 'boys than with the eagles?
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Not a fair comparison unless you discount last year, when Owens himself was clearly declining. What's his catch rate right now?
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Owens
2002: 63%
2003: 55%
2004: 61%
2005: 51%
2006: 56%
2007: 57%
2008: 50%
2009: 46%
So, Owens is pretty much all over the place, with a trend downward over the last couple years.
If I had to guess, I'd say McNabb was a little better at throwing catchable balls to him than Romo, and thats kinda scary.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Russell going to be greta, just having rough spell. Problems getting worked out as read this.
As forr Roy Willaims he is moron and Jerry Jones and Cowobys make terible tarde to get him.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Jerry Jones has been a bit of a tarde lately.
When's Russell's reassignment surgery scheduled? "Greta" . . . daring name choice.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Russell going to be greta
Greta Garbo? Sounds about right.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
About two and a half Garbos if my math is right.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
You kids and your dang metric system!
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
I believe Russell is going to be great, just in a different league. Maybe the IFOCE.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Are you the guy that writes fortune cookies?
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
He would sell a lot of cvookise.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Honestly, I have to say that after watching the Seattle game, Roy had multiple passes thrown his way that were near impossible to catch/were actually throw-aways. He has not been great and in other games has had his share of well-placed drops, but in the Seattle game Romo was missing him while hitting other WRs. I encourage anyone who is able to, to watch the game. I think Roy will improve. I'm not sure what the problem is. Roy is not a terrible receiver. To quote Roy himself "Tony's good, I'm good. Something will get worked out." Roy is no bum and neither is Tony. I'm still thinking that something will get going between them.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
"I'm still thinking that something will get going between them."
Afterall, they've been friends for a while, and we've all said, wouldn't it be great if they got together.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
There's no reason for two established good players to not be able to play together. That's all I'm saying.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Oh, I thought we were talking about dating...sorry.

COWBOYS OFFENSE V. SEAHAWKS DEFENSE
* Romo 2 inaccurate throws to a wide open Williams on the Cowboys first series, Both should have been completions – Romo clean pocket with no pressure both times, These were on Romo
Greg Cosell has noticed, as well. So while it's probably not the right venue for Williams to be talking about it, he's maybe not completely delusional.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Roy Williams is pretty bad. When Patrick Crayton is better than you, and by a wide margin, its time for you to shut the yap.
Not sure cap implications, but wouldn't be surprised to see him cut this offseason.
Then maybe the Raiders can pick him up. Expensive, check, aging, check, everyone hates him, check, not very bright, check.......sounds like the type of player Undead Al gets hard for.
Raiderjoe, you blind devotion to your team is mesmerizing, but your call on the suxor trade is dead on correct.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
There is 0% chance of Roy being cut next offseason, even if he doesn't catch a single pass the rest of the season.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
Russell IS going to be great, perhaps one of the all-timers - right up there with Ryan Leaf and Todd Marinovich when it comes to all-time quarterback flops.
As for Williams, as an Eagles fan I was jumping up and down and clapping my hands with glee when Jerry Jones gave up two high picks to get him, and he's yet to do a single thing to change that attitude. In addition to his low catch rate, he doesn't go all out on routes on which he's not the primary target and for a big guy, he's a pretty lousy downfield blocker. He's one of those rare talents capable of making the players around him worse. If you ever start an annual "Keep Choppin' Wood All-Stars", he should be a perennial fixture.
Re: Roy Williams: 'I'm The No. 1 Receiver'
The only thing that might save him from Leaf level is the fact that at the time, there was not a lot of top level perceived talent to be taken overall. In hindsight, there are half a dozen players from that draft that could have been taken instead of him (Purple Jesus anyone?), but after the Raiders already had a high draft pick in a RB, the only other possible option was Megatron. Gallery had scared them off Joe Thomas, and there wasn't a huge amount of top end talent.
