Oh my God! That's ... Pierre Thomas' music!

What music would that be, La Marseillaise?

Perhaps "Illinois Loyalty."

Speaking of which, which Illinois halfback will post a higher DYAR next year:

07 UDFA Pierre Thomas - NOS or
08 1st round draft pick Rashard Mendenhall - PIT ?

I say Thomas and by a comfortable margin.

Would this be considered as Sean Payton "dropping a Deuce"?

Deuce Gets Dumped

"He's just too pooped to play anymore," said coach Sean Payton. "Sure, it makes us feel crappy to flush away all his years of service. He is, after all, a man of great moral fiber who bowled over many defenders. When he brought it, he could really drop a full load on them, you know? We're all a bit wiped from having to do this."

Calls to Najeh Davenport for comment were not immediately returned.

Saintsreport.com is going nuts.

Just sayin'.

The thing is, most rational Saints fans knew this was coming for a long time. Yes, it sucks, but it was a business move that had to be done. Sometimes things like this are necessary, and we need to move on.

Now if only Payton uses Reggie (counters, draws, stretch plays, and in the passing and return game) and Pierre like he did prior to Reggie's injuries... For some reason, people like to ignore the fact that Bush had his longest runs between the tackles; this is also where his best production took place. Payton needs to be less cute with his playcalling, get a good mix of Thomas and Bush in every game, and don't put it all on Drew's shoulders.

But back to Deuce. He was an excellent player, a fan favorite, and a great citizen, even in his days at Ole Miss. Everyone in the Gulf Coast and Saints fans around the world will miss his services for our team this year, but we'll pull for him to do well elsewhere--unless it's with the Falcons.

Unlike a lot of vet RBs who get cut, I thought that Deuce showed that he still had something left last year, so where he ends up is an interesting question. I'd personally be very happy if my team (49ers) tried to sign him, but I get the feeling we're committed to that deadbeat Foster as Gore's backup. Still, he could make an impact somewhere.

If you get a chance, watch or read a transcript of Deuce's goodbye press conference. One of the classiest guys I've ever seen, treating the situation with more respect and composure than is warranted.

To make it easier, the link is in my name.

Of course, the media don't like to talk about guys like Deuce more often...

Having read that transcript, I'd say, yep, he's a class act.

Phil Simms is a Cretin.

Deuce McAllister: “It’s definitely a shock. I understand in some ways it might hurt for some fans, but at the same time, I want them to continue to support the New Orleans Saints. They were hopefully a Saints fan before I got here and I want them to continue to be a Saints fan once I’m gone. The players and coaches will change, but it’s either in you or it’s not. I’m just thankful. I want them to continue to support this organization and hopefully bring a championship to this team.”

very rational move. also, broncos cut dre bly. average player with above average cap number. i've been critical of the bronco's administrative moves, but i can't fault any of the roster moves made so far. maybe Xanders is a Xenius. I love Deuce, but this makes sense. Hard for Saints fans, good for Saints franchise. love to hear from Saints fans on this.

Agreed that Deuce is a very classy guy.

I think that Joseph and I are the two main Saints fans here. I think that it was necessary, expected, and kind of sad all at once. But Deuce is, was, and always will be a class act.

Oh, and right now, loads of people of Saintsreport.com want the Saints to pick up Dre Bly.

Can he score from the one yard line?

Not much else to say. Sad to see him go, knew it was going to happen, would love to see him back at a more manageable cap number, but if not, hope he does well wherever he goes. As a Saints fan in Pittsburgh, I'd love to see him come up here as their back solely for the red zone.
