Sunday Ticket iPhone App To Stream Live Video

DirecTV is like the evil girlfriend you always go back to.

DirecTV Group Inc., the largest U.S. satellite television service, will allow its “NFL Sunday Ticket” subscribers to watch next season’s games on mobile phones as part of a $100 package.

Fans who pay $280 for National Football League games outside their home TV market can add access on handsets including Apple Inc.’s iPhone, El Segundo, California-based DirecTV said today on its Web site. The offer ends July 31.

Go back to? I turned her down from the start, too high maintenance.

Games on my computer would be awesome, but as I understand it I'd have to pay 280 for DirecTV, and then another 100 for the online access.

Given that I don't even have a tv, this isn't particularly appealing. They really ought to offer a separate online-only package. I'd be willing to pay good money for that.

Just get a TV Tuner and an antenna. Boom 4 games a week.

The online viewing is part of the $100 superfan package, which you can get for free if you're willing to spend 15-30 minutes on the phone to argue about it.

An online-only option will never happen because the reason DirecTV pays so much to keep the exclusive rights to the sunday ticket is to gain extra subscribers. They aren't about to make it available to non-subscribers in any format.

good money being less than 380 dollars though, apparently

I have access to a tv in my dorm, I'm just saying I have no way of getting DirecTV. I'd probably pay 150+ a season to have sunday ticket available online, but DirecTV requires you to shell out 280 for the tv package before you can buy the online component for an additional 100.

As opposed to Comcast, the meth addict who stole your money and who you hope never to see again?

I'm sure people in some portions of the country have decent alternatives to DirecTV and can proceed to complaining about the monopoly they have on NFL Sunday Ticket, but speaking for myself I'm ecstatic to have moved into a house where I can get DirecTV for reasons completely unrelated to the NFL. It's cheaper & better than my alternatives.

At least you guys get a choice of who robs you for your NFL access, in the UK we have Sky or Sky if you want to watch any games.

No, we don't have a choice here. If you want the Sunday Ticket to get all the games, you have to get DirecTV. Otherwise you just get whatever games your local network affiliates decide to show you, plus the two national games. So if you're a fan of a team from another city like me (I'm a Jets fan and I live in Denver), the only way to be able to see your favorite team every week in your own home is to have DirecTV and get the Sunday Ticket.

Or (outside the US) you can pay for NFL GamePass which is online live streaming of all games except the primary Sky game, you still get the secondary games and you can watch all games once they have finished.

Plus if you have Sky already you can watch the games on Skyplayer online or get a Slingbox and you can watch whatever is on your TV on your phone. Don't Five should the night games any more?

I would say that in terms of live games on TV we are nowadays better served than most parts of the US really.

ESPN America here. 6 games a week or so live.
Then there are ways, so you can watch every game played that week later on.
