First pick was obvious -- actually, first five picks are obvious. I was stunned to see sweet potatoes slip to 11, though, and sweet potato pie fall into the second round. On the other hand, I thought Chinese takeout and chitlins were pretty big reaches.

The Falcons and Bucs are still lacking edge rushers, the Saints need someone to protect Drew Brees, and the Panthers desperately need a second good wideout.

Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draft
Ham at 24? That was a value pick if ever I've seen one. Jerry Reese would be proud!
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
Pecan pie and corn not on the cob both went undrafted, while chitlins went 7th? I'd rather have Thanksgiving dinner at Ford Field again than eat with the Page 2 writers.
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
Turducken falling to 35th was a travesty. Traaaaaaaaaavesty.
Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draft
Thanksgiving--the one day of the year when you eat everything your grandparents love and you don't.
I'm not a big fan of most Thanksgiving day foods.
Re: Turkey
Can't argue with turkey at #1, a great cornerstone to build the meal around. Roast potatoes at #11? That's a great pick - I had it rated as the best potato on my board. Beer at #26 is a great sleeper pick.
I cannot believe those little sausages with bacon wrapped around them went undrafted. He was the best performer on the table last time round. I thought someone would have taken a flyer on cauliflower cheese as well.
By the way, I'm English. What the hell is turducken? That sounds like a place in Pennsylvania.
Re: Turkey
A chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey and roasted. John Madden loves it, but I'm not a fan. And I live in Pennsylvania!
Re: Turkey
You forgot to mention it's boned and filled with different stuffings at each level. It's good stuff.
Re: Turkey Goes First
I think Tony Kornheiser did this on his radio show years ago. I don't remember much about it, except it was hilarious.
Sweet Potato Pie is the Drew Brees of this draft.
Re:
With my pick, I take...lasagna. Turkey is the worst of the birds.
Re:
Agreed. And lasagne is one of the great foods ever invented.

Aren't Chinese restaurants generally closed on Thanksgiving? I think Hubry got his holidays mixed up.
Re: Turkey Goes First
You know what was missing from this draft? DINNER ROLLS. We didn't have them today, and I had nothing to sop up my gravy with.
Re: Turkey Goes First
Hawaiian King Sweet Rolls, or whatever they're called (comes in the red/orange plastic wrapping in the bakery section), are the best. rolls. ever.
rolls w/potatos? check.
rolls w/gravy? check.
rolls with leftover ham or turkey? check.
soft butter with a side of rolls? check.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... thursday was a good day.
Re: missing dishes
not selected: butternut squash, apple cobbler, the aforementioned dinner rolls, okra, butter, cooler full of soda and the remote control. If al davis was in this draft he would have reached to take giblets in the first round.
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
Not that I generally agree with his whining but will ESPN please stop stealing The Sports Guy's ideas, not including him, not giving him credit for them, and not including him? Seriously. He's kinda a douche but still...
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
Well, he is employed by ESPN, so it could be that legally, any ideas he presents in an ESPN column are property of the employer.
That's how most companies are; any software I write, for example, is considered property of my employer, not me.
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
I assume you get credit though.
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
Yeah it's pretty blatant. But I'm not terribly surprised.
Re: Turkey Goes First In Page 2's Thanksgiving Food Fantasy Draf
I assumed his compensation was not being forced to participate.
