Why Are So Many Quarterbacks Kicking So Much Ass

A little e-mail conversation between Big Daddy Drew, MDS, and myself about this year's high quarterback ratings. Mike and I don't agree with Big Daddy Drew that the rise in silly ticky-tack roughing the passer flags is the cause of better passing numbers. However, I definitely agree that ticky-tack roughing the passer flags are annoying.

It gets old rather quickly.

Yup...right up there with Simmons, Gallo, Easterbrook, and King in the "regular features that I don't read any more due to their remarkable predictability" file.

In this world, JaMarcus Russell is a one-legged man.

Manning, Brady, Favre, Brees, Rivers, Flacco, Ryan, Cutler Schaub, Rodgers, Mcnabb, Warner, and Roethlisburger all are proven, or emerging quarterbacks that are way above average QB talent for what the league's history is.

Even Kyle Orton has been freed from the ineptitude of Ron Turner, so throw that into the mix...

Buried somewhere in this is a note from yours truly on quarterback injuries being drastically down through half a season.

I started to read this, but noticed halfway thru the vulgarity. one or two times is ok, but it is beneath FO to be endorsing this stuff

One or two times = perfectly acceptable

Three or more = BENEATH THE GOOD STANDARDS OF DECENCY, SIR. BENEATH THEM.

I don't care about the vulgarity, but the USE OF CAPS IN PLACE OF ACTUAL HUMOR gets wearisome very quickly. There's an ever-growing number of these Mr Angry sports blogs, all of which use the same feeble rape/wank metaphors, together with a dollop of misogyny and/or homophobia, in their attempt to be 'edgy'. Reading them, I feel like I'm taking ninth-grade again, but without the faint hope that, one day, the kids might get over it.

Oh, and Magary's analysis and use of stats are pathetic. FO would have showed him up, BUT IT FAILED TO USE CAPS OR EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!!

Completely agree about that tiring caps-angry humor.

That's a shame. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, why didn't you tell us that they use words in that article that we use and hear in real life every day. Shocking!

Perhaps you need to move in better circles.

Impossible. I love my friends and family. I would never ditch them just because they use the f word to emphasize subsequent words in a sentence. Why, just today my brother said 'It's f--king baltic' to indicate that not only is it cold, but it is particularly cold. Now, I'm sure I should have immediately shunned this heathen devil spawn but I just don't have it in me to be such a sanctimonious, self righteous little eejit. You do..congrats.

Is any of this because it is not winter yet? (ten@ne notwithstanding)

Dick Joke Jamboroo > Monday Morning Quarterback

There, I said it.

If offensive holding was called 1/2 the time that it should be on passing downs there would be a little less QB asskickery.

I would love for the competition committee to champion offensive holding by the rules.
