Aqib Talib, Jeff Faine Out for Season

Last week, it was Cody Grimm and Davin Joseph; this week, it's two even more important Buccaneers who have gone down with season-ending injuries. Center Jeff Faine is not expected to return this season with a triceps injury, while cornerback Aqib Talib suffered a hip injury that apparently saw him "tear a tendon from the bone".

Aqib Talib was having a terrific season, too. Ugh. This really hurts. As if yesterday's loss wasn't frustrating enough.

Talib was really starting to develop as an utter stud CB, this sucks balls. In the last two weeks, Talib, Faine, Davin Joseph, and Cody Grimm went on IR. That's the best CB, the two most consistent offensive linemen, and the starting rookie FS who had really looked pretty good. Talk about a season suddenly heading toilet-ward . . .

In a way it would have been worse if this news had followed a win on Sunday, because the defeat pretty much killed any chance of the Bucs making the playoffs anyway. I doubt that is much consolation, however.

I've been really pissed off about the loss yesterday, but this actually makes it easier. It seemed pretty devastating to throw that game away, but hey, even if they won, the loss of Talib would have made things dicey enough in the secondary that they probably weren't making the playoffs anyways.
